lol it is due to the anime , in the manga they are botch scratched and bruised. Also in the manga , when bolt activate his seal + byakugan, they don't run at each others like in the anime but instead kawaki start moving backward covering his face with his hand ( because bolt is emitting something * some light or aura or shit like that *) sooooo...........
The thing with the anime is that they will always take some liberties from the manga. But it's better using the manga as a reference since it's the original scene.
