Yeah, just today I watched episode 1 and it really looked as if Oro was behind some stuff. But I don't really see reasons for him going pure evil again. And I don't really want that to happen to be honest.

I wish he could remain an enigmatic scientist, but willing to help if help is needed. Actually this is the only chance (even if unlikely) to see Orochimaru go all out, probably saving Mitsuki and other kids from some stronger enemy.

Agreed. Maybe he wanted to test Boruto out for that dojutsu? I wouldn't be surprised if Orochimaru knows more about what's going on in the world than anyone else again.
