This list is based on the best female characters that have a world wide "fanbase" or has been famous and applauded by the critics. Without an actual order.

Sailor moon and sailor scouts: They prove that you can "fight like a girl'' and still not be ashamed of that. Instead you become one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

Lady Macbeth: Was able to become the Queen of Scotland due using her wits and ruthless behaviour. She still is a role model for dramatic characters. Even if her actions are questionable, she is one of my favorites characters.

Mary of the Secret Garden book: She is one of the epitomes of good developments for girls. Even without family, she becomes able to see her own faults, evolute and help those who were like her (Collin).

Talk about determination and discovering by yourself you inner strenght!

Sara the little princess: Overcame the death of her father in the WW1 all alone with her self steem and confidence in herself. Nuff said.

Honorable mentions:

Catherine Earnshaw: She still is a character open to debate, her actions aren't completely understood nor by the characters or even the audience! She is truly beyond her time. She fought bravely against the Victorian Era and its restrictions. Just as it was said

Moana

She lead her people to a new era, being it compared to the Age of Discoveries. She was leadership material from the start and could prove herself beautifully!

Tell how these characters of today can even compare to them? Even if it's not the characters fault that they are being downplayed, or becoming secondaries, I guess it's also the reader's fault to stand for these characters. Even if there are exceptions like Ino Yamanaka who was able to become a leader generally speaking, this could be a critic to some Naruto female characters considering the influence it had on the world. What Hinata and Sakura is telling little girls about how to behave? And this could be apllied to a lot of other characters....

I am no one to come and choose your favorite. But I think that when choosing one, keep one that respects themselves and their goals so then they can become your role model, because that's why characters are created for!!!!!!

Yep, Ikemoto just needs to pay attention to her character development and we'll have a great female character.
Actually this thread is supposed not only to critic Naruto girls, but about every single character that is empty, and still is put as role model! I want girls like Alice in the Wonderland back!!!!

That Moana:pkun:
You really are someone who has a big knowledge and you are a smart person....
Talk about awesome development! XD Also thanks*_*

Orochimaru is also one of the most intriguing characters I've ever seen, really. His past is realistic, and you can understand why he left the village, even if it was for greed . He fullfilled his vilain role perfectly. I can clearly remember when I was afraid of him!

Always loved my independent headstrong ladies. Korra and Maka Albarn being my favourites, not just for being strong but for being interesting, vulnerable and not just there to service other, more important male characters.

Sarada isn't the first though, Tsunade, Chiyo and Temari were always fantastic. Ino and Tenten also to a lesser extent.

I also love Tsunade and Maka! Although I don't really appreciate the character model of tomboy girls.

Well ignoring the short skirt lol, I think she has great potential for development. Anyway won't derail the thread further.
No! XD Please , stay and let's discuss a little bit more! I expressed myself badly, sorry! It's just that I was afraid people would think that this is a thread supposed just to critic Sarada overall portrayal! But she also gets included, so let's disccus! Do you think that even after this bad start she can become a star in the Naruto anime?

Yep, ofc she can and I hope she does considering how much of a failure her mother was as an MC. I'd love to see her using her sharingan abilities and ofc katon techs which the uchiha's are famous for. And I hope she has wind affinity to complement and enhance her katon jutsus.

I guess it's because I'm a perfectionist, because I am not really into her. I became so happy that we were about to have a female Uchiha, but her portrayal was so empty compared to other Uchiha who were really worried about their lineage, family, traditional values.....I just gave up.
I wanted an Uchiha girl like this who knows about her family sufferings and fights just like Sasuke even if it means losing her good sense.

Hinata could've gone some of these rotes toooo!!!!!!!!!

That Anastasia movie was a good tale about how the Romanov princess avenged her family who was killed in the Russian Revolution in 1917. It was quite inspiring. Sasuke offspring could've followed some of these paths but noooooo.

Points for her movie too!!!

Thing is Sarada never knew suffering the way Sasuke did. She had a normal childhood apart from Sasuke being not there for her. Even Sasuke as a kid was like her before the uchiha massacre. So give her time to develop, the manga has only started and pray that she doesn't take the Sakura route.

What are their character development Feats anyway. I agree Helen Was awesome, but Take her powers and you have average woman. Moana is much more than a rabbit, and you Know That. The ones I said could make you cry with just their ideas and thoughts, some of them stand since 1800's.

There are definitely a lot more really good female leads. But on a side note, I honestly wouldn't consider Lady Macbeth to be among them. She was more of an antagonist and was pretty much the reason that Macbeth became such a ruthless tyrant. She killed herself from guilt of her actions.
