How much should our looks affect our personalities?

Would you be a totally different person if you were any less or any more attractive?

Most super attractive people are always consciously trying to appear cool and camera-ready. Like Paris Hilton "I'm sooo hot."
Would they have a bigger sense of humor and be free spirited and whatnot if they weren't as attractive?

Not-so-attractive people aren't so against picking their noses, scratching their asses, burping, and yawning ugly in public. Would they care too much about not doing these things in public if they were more attractive?

Are our personalities so subject to change that we'd be much different people if we lost or gained a few points on the attractiveness scale?

Michael Jackson changed a lot physically and yet, he never really changed. :)

It's my opinion that very few people are actually unattractive.
Most people have particular flaws that are keeping them from being more desirable. They're fixable, like you said. Just gotta have the means and/or will to fix 'em.

MJ was a unique man. It's best not to bring him up in conversations to make a point
What applied to him doesn't apply to anyone else lol

I wouldn't worry so much about it, man. But if it's holding you back and preventing you from being the best version of you, then why don't you do something about it? Is it only something that money can fix?

Surgeons and other kinds of doctors can fix damn near any physical flaw nowadays.

Plus. someone's "hot" is another person's "not". Like not every woman drools over Zac Efron or Ryan Gosling. And not every man is crazy for Kate Upton or Scarlett Johansson.

Who you are is who you are. How you present yourself in public is nothing more than a representation of that. Obviously, you can't change your genetic appearance (without surgery, but that also plays into how you choose to present yourself), however people will still go to quite some lengths regardless of how genetically "presentable" they are to represent who they are, even if they aren't conscious about it.

"Who you are is who you are." You'll have to try harder than that. We firstly identify you by how you look before we can form an opinion about your personality. Which means you, yourself must value the way you look more than your personality. Consequently meaning that your reactions around people will be partly guided by their expressions on your looks, and what opinion you have of yourself, which per se is influenced by their impression or how they respond to you at their initial encounter with you.

A lot of people don't want to believe it, but looks play a huge role in the person's attitude. I haven't heard of someone ghastly being remarked as charismatic. That alone tells you something about looks in relation to personality.

You can change yourself by training. When the results are coming you'll feel more comfortable with yourself, but it doesn't rly change your personality.

Just be happy with the looks you have! If you're not then change it by training.

"We firstly identify you by how you look" is exactly what I meant by what I said. We tend to categorize and label people based nothing more on first impressions and outward appearances. Someone who is obsessed with maintaining a certain "status" will likely spend far more time worrying about how they present themselves in public than say, someone who is all around more easy-going and less concerned with how people perceive them at first glance.

To reuse the examples presented by the OP - someone who is more self-centered is typically going to be someone who is actively attempting to remain "cool and camera ready", while someone who perhaps tends to be more reclusive and less likely to be socially active will typically be the people you find doing things in public that many people wouldn't. Of course, its not as simple as what I've said, there are many more factors for something as complicated as the human persona - this is merely to demonstrate my argument. Being genetically attractive does not necessarily mean that person is going to make an effort to try and be someone they aren't.

If I were ugly I would focus more on my body and try to even it up.

Well to be completely honest to be the "ultimate" person, you would have to have both a unique look(as well looking good) and a nice, friendly outgoing personality. BUT, the best combo imo is when you looks are in the middle, not too hot and not too ugly. Meaning looking good enough to not force others to tolerate your appearance(they are prolly thinking what an ugly piece of crap you are and they put up a fake face to avoid confrontation) , but not make somebody's looks as a reason to like them(say they suddenly look different, some of your liking towards them dumbs down significantly).

Yes first impressions count, people don't realise how much personality play a big role.
