Language, hands down. While maths play a major part in technology and advancement, without language we wouldn't even be able to communicate the core concepts of maths. Unless we're born with a natural knack for mathematics, which is hardly the case.

as for math, like the guy earlier said you only need the basics, something even cavemen understood to some degree.

Both are just as important. If we don't advance in language, philosophy we don't advance in mathematics. Both are just as important for us humans. Dominate both, you dominate the world.

Mathematics is more important because its universal. In the future, we can create new languages if it was ever needed. New mathematics cannot be created, only discovered.

So if it was a choice of understanding every language in the world or understanding all existing mathematics, than a person should choose knowing all existing math as it would greatly benefit the world.

Knowing all mathematics could advance our society limitlessly. Knowing all languages would not benefit anyone outside yourself, and as I said before, we can create new languages at will if it was ever needed.

I wonder why this is even a debate ? Hands down math, its one of the important life skill. Technology, Astronomy, Biology, Medical advancements rely on calculations, trial & error. Even modern-day warfare are won by calculated statistics. There's no denying that Mathematics is a universal language.
