Nah, wood release comes from having Ashura's body because Ashura had the Juubi's power (six path senjutsu)

It's why Naruto is the only one in NV that was capable of influencing Hashi's wood (no homo), Kurama's chakra alone has no effect on Mokuton, but when it's mixed with Naruto's Yang it has the same effect as Hashi's Yang.

Tobirama was well versed in Yin and Yang Release (Six Paths Jutsu), so it's not illogical to assume Hashirama was too.
