You took from that what you wanted to take from that. Sarcastically referring to the "legendary year of Sanji" was me highlighting the irony in that statement, as it's been a damn shitty year for the boy. Inferring isn't your strong suit, I presume.
What are you talking about the year of Sanji is only half way. I don't know why so many people think a year always ends in december ? The Whole cake island arc only started in June or July. So we still have a long way to go.
The fact that Oda grants everybody epic displays in this arc like Brook vs Big Mom, Luffy and Cracker, Chopper and Carrot vs Brulee and even Nami outplaying the homies shows that he isn't afraid to make the Sh's look good against a yonkou crew to a certain extent.
So if he is giving Sanji absolutely nothing to work with and keeps hitting him over and over again. That is a great way of showing the helplessness of the situation in another perspective. Sanji tried dealing with the situation his way and he was making all the sacrifices he had to make to keep all his friends alive.
Now at rock bottom he reached his snapping point and he will crash his own wedding. You need to have a little more faith in Oda, he will restore the balance.
If it annoys you that Sanji is feeling helpless or that it is frustrating that he isn't doing as much as he can, that means that Oda did his job right. Because that is what the reader is supposed to feel now when looking at Sanji. That is great development for his character. If you think the year of Sanji would've been better if it was 52 weeks of him kicking ass then I think you don't understand what a good story is.
As for your reply to Riker. If you would compare Zoro to Sanji you can't objectively say that Zoro is the more interesting character. He might be stronger and tougher and maybe he doesn't cry as much buy on the other hand he is very one dimensional and he has little to no background. His cornerstone is the cliche "I want to be the very best". And because of that combined with his promise to never lose again makes his fights and the road that lead up to them not very interesting because you know what will happen.
