Close, the status affects I'd dare to say would not occur until the second turn. So where it says first turn x, y, and z, for us it would be second turn x, y, and z.


Despite the affects of Yin's illusion Corvo maintained his durability even in the second round of its affects. "I think that's enough." Yin said as he released the illusion. He allowed Corvo to get off the ledge. The sun had begun to set over the village and Yin decided it was enough.

"You're doing well...well, at least in relation to your teammates. That's all for today go get some rest and come to the forest outside the village tomorrow morning at sunrise. Reborn's real body will meet you there." With those words Yin went up in a cloud of smoke.

Corvo had rested well, and woke up early before sunrise to make his way over to the forested area surrounding the village. The air teemed with a cool stillness that kept everything in his surroundings in place, as he continued to walk down several pathways leading to the assigned location.

He was ready for the next stage in his journey.

Reborn, being the prankster that he was, hid himself using Wujin on the roof of the castle until Corvo returned for training. Reborn approached Corvor on his right and appeared suddenly like a ghost.

"Hope you slept well, now we get into the fun stuff." Reborn replied.

Reborn sat on the roof cross legged and motioned for Corvo to sit across from him. Reborn then held his hand out and created a small void of transparent space distortion around his palm. "This is the fundamental technique that encompasses our ability to erase existence. This technique was created generations ago by our ancestors and was completed by my great-great Grandfather Shunden Hayabusa. The technique is named Way of Nothingness. I believe that's aptly named.

For this technique you are going to need intimate control of each of your dantian separately. So we're going to start off simple. I want you to begin manipulating chakra like you did yesterday to erase your entire perception. However this time I want you to only use your lower dantian. isolate your lower dantian and then work on generating chakra to parts of your body without externalizing it. Move chakra to your arms, legs, and lungs. Go even smaller and just focus the chakra into your hands, feet, and throat, and finally your finger tips, toe tips, and mouth. You know, all those basic things you do with elemental chakra gathering.




(Neidan: Wuji Dao) Internal Alchemy: Way of Nothingness

Description: This is one of the fundamental Neidan techniques within the Hayabusa clan and the first one learned. This technique returns existence to nothingness/erases from existence. Using one of the three Dantian Hayabusa ninja render existence to nothingness. Depending on the Dantian that is used the user can manipulate physical, vital, or spiritual existence. Regardless of which application is used there are two components that can be utilized: internal or external. These two components describe the technique’s application to one’s self and outside themselves respectively. A Hayabusa ninja who utilizes the internal component with this technique manipulates their own physical, vital, and/or spiritual existence. One who utilizes external component does the same but with any entity other than themselves. Only one of the components can be used for any given application of this technique. As for the applications, only one can be used at a given time. Upon reaching higher jounin ranks (Dragon/Head Ninja and Master Ninja), Hayabusa ninja can utilize all three of the Dantian simultaneously to completely erase their own existence (internal) or that of another entity (external). When erasing one’s own existence with this technique the user can only maintain a state of non-existence for no more than one turn with and must re-appear within 10 meters of their original point. Once the user has gone to nothingness they cannot use any techniques until after they return to reality. Through the external component the user can erase the existence of another life such as summons or other shinobi though it requires prolonged contact with the target (3 turns). After contact is made the victim will begin to vanish from the ground up.

Lower Dantian: The Lower Dantian deals with physical existence. Entities such as solids and liquids, physical entities, and corporeal matter are within this Dantian’s scope. When using the internal component of this application the user is capable of erasing parts of their body as small as: bits of flesh and bone to whole limbs, organs, etc. This ability extends to physical afflictions such as poisons, toxins, pathogens and generally any other thing that integrates itself within the user’s physical being. When using this technique on the body to take off flesh and bone the user will feel as though their flesh and bone have been ripped apart and their body will suffer accordingly. For example: if the user erases their right index finger, they will feel their finger ripped off their body and will bleed profusely until stopped. The external component of this technique takes the form of transparent visual distortions similar in nature and appearance to the voids of kamui though with the ability to vary in shape and size. The shape and size are dependent on the rank of the technique. As well as the amount of matter in which one can erase is also dependent on the rank. Lower ranks means smaller areas of effect and less matter that can be erased. This technique has the ability to combat against techniques of equivalent rank or chakra input. With the external component, if anybody other than the user makes contact with the technique, they will suffer just as the user would if they used the internal component of this application. The external component of this application can be made within short range of the user but not the target unless both parties are in close range. Even then, the user cannot manifest this technique directly on their opponent without physical contact.

Startled by the sudden appearance of Rin, Corvo yelled for a moment before exhaling a sigh of relief and putting the palms of his hands on his knees to control his breathing and heart rate. "Not. Funny." He composed himself rather quickly as Rin began to speak of the first technique, one that was created and developed from generations past. The instructions were clear, and Corvo was set on mastering this completely. He glances down at his body before taking a deep breath, beginning to pool the chakra of the dragon solely into his lower dantian; he had become entirely familiar with how to access each section through the previous training session. Now, he would manipulate this chakra into various portions of his physical being, one at a time. Beginning with the limbs, the arms and legs, gathering this chakra into each one individually, and then simultaneously once his confidence with the practice grew. Taking note of keeping this internalized, he continued afterward with smaller and more precise parts of his body such as his finger and toe tips, then his mouth. As he practiced, he began to wonder of what the end-goal of this exercise would be, but shortly after dismissed these ideas and focused on the task at hand.


This active application of the lower dantian deals with physical existence and its manipulation both externally and internally. The former allows one to erase portions of their physical being no matter how small so long as they are within or a part of their body; this also includes being able to erase external biological attacks that have invaded the body. The internal application however does nothing to stop the feeling of pain that comes from removing a portion of the body from this realm of existence into nothingness, but this can be used to the advantage of the user if they for some reason require the need to break illusionary attacks through pain. The external application manifests itself as voids of various sizes and shapes that can be used to erase physical matter excluding that of the body. Ultimately the important rule is that these voids can only be made within short range of the user and not a target unless the target is within short range and despite this, physical contact must be made to apply a void directly on them. These voids can contest against attacks of equal rank or chakra input.

This is backwards, internal deals with the user, external deals with everything outside the user. you probably meant "latter" and not former. Former refers to the second to last thing stated.

Other than that you seem to have it.



"Good, now we're going to narrow it even further. Focus a small amount chakra anywhere on your body. Make the shape thin, once you have that down, switch your focus to removing that piece of your body from existence. Be careful though."

As Reborn said this, the world around Corvo began to distort severely and his body began to sink into the ground.

Description: This is a simple and not to difficult to discern genjutsu. The user places the target in an illusion where they see the world around them heavily distorted, preventing the target from discerning his surroundings while within the illusion. The technique also gives the impression of the target sinking in quicksand and thus acts as a means to immobilize them slowly.




Lets dissect this technique

"Entities such as solids and liquids, physical entities, and corporeal matter are within this Dantian’s scope."
Objects like weapons, solid and liquid elements like earth release, water release, Wood Release, variants of those techniques, etc.​

"This ability extends to physical afflictions such as poisons, toxins, pathogens and generally any other thing that integrates itself within the user’s physical being."
If poison and other biological pathogens enter the body you can remove those entities specifically and not just entities of the body around them. Medical shinobi and puppet using poison can be countered with this technique.​

"The external component of this technique takes the form of transparent visual distortions similar in nature and appearance to the voids of kamui though with the ability to vary in shape and size. The shape and size are dependent on the rank of the technique."
shapes: swords, spears, balls, animals, etc. If you think of this technique as: Like Rasengan you have a single shape and there is sporadic chakra spiraling all inside it, our technique works in a similar fashion. Think of the shape and the center of that point is the point where the void is converging/collapsing (like kamui) within that defined shape.​

"This technique has the ability to combat against techniques of equivalent rank or chakra input."
Look at the chakra before anything else. This technique follows ordinary rank progression 10 (D), 15 (C), 20 (B), 30 (A), 40 (S). You do not get to arbitrarily get to choose your chakra amount.​

Let's look at the restrictions

Note: This technique is learned at genin level and follows similar rules for each rank. Genin can only use D-rank applications, chunin = C-rank, jounin = B-rank (upper) A-rank (lower and middle), Dragon/Head Ninja = A-rank (upper) S-rank (lower and middle), Master Ninja = All ranks.
Note: Genin and Chunin are required to use 5 to 3 hand seals respectively for any application’s external component. Jounin require one hand seal, Dragon/Head, and Master Ninja can use up to B-rank with no hand seals. Contact between user and opponent requires no hand seals.
Note: When using the external component of the Upper Dantian, using the A-ranked and above will render an opponent comatose after two turns. C and B-ranks will simply render one unconscious after 4 turns. Each turn of maintaining drains half the original chakra cost. While maintaining no other application of this technique can be used.
Note: Upper Dantian usages, regardless of the component can only be used once every other turn. A-ranked and above usage requires a two turn cool down.
Note: S-rank applications of this technique requires a one turn cool down for the Middle and Lower Dantian.
Note: To erase completely the existence of oneself or of another the user must use 70 chakra. Unlike the external component where it takes three turns to erase another, the internal component is instantaneous in its nature due to a lack of resistance from the user applying it to themselves. Upon using this advanced application either internally or externally the user will be unable to use any Neidan technique for the next two turns. Dragon Ninja and Head Ninja can use this application twice per battle and Master Ninja 3 times per battle

Corvo could see the world distort before him as he began to sink into the ground. Knowing what needed to be done, he began to focus a small amount of chakra into his right index finger. He was extremely cautious at this point, not wanting to overdo it and cause more pain or erase more than needed. Applying everything that he had learned into this very moment, he causes the chosen finger's skin to fade into nothingness, prompting a very painful sensation; his body recoiled at first, but given what he had experienced in the Blood Prison, his pain tolerance was high, and so he quickly recovered. Blood began to seep out of the portion of where his finger's skin was once attached, however he had succeeded in dispelling the illusion. He swiftly returns the skin back into existence, and exhales.

"That was... a bit intense to say the least."


All understood, but I have a question or just want clarification regarding that final bit about not being able to choose your chakra amount; this means that the technique as a whole isn't capable of erasing forbidden ranked technique costing 50 to 70 chakra as I had originally thought? The maximum amount (or rank) in terms of what it can erase would only reach up to S rank, or 40 chakra?

An Easter egg in that bolded note? Is it that "5 to 3" refers to your height irl (5"3)? I'M KIDDING, DON'T KILL ME.

I'm stumped. I've read over it several times and can't find any "easter egg."

Reborn tossed Corvo some medical tape and ointment "Little too much there, but I guess it could be worse, you could've blown away your entire finger. That would have been messy don'cha think?" Reborn laughed.

Reborn used the same application and made and erased a small portion of the skin on his thumb. The injury amounted to the same as a small cut with a kunai or him having bitten a chunk of his finger for a summoning technique. Reborn then put his thumb in his mouth and began to suck on the blood while mumbling.

"I don't exactly have any poisons, I probably should have asked uncle for those...oh well, just as well, you may have accidentally killed an artery or organ trying to get rid of it. We'll have you work on it a bit more after. Let's try the external application. Hmm, how should we do this...You can perform the Rasengan right? Alright so this time focus on an sphere of space around your palm. Gather your chakra like before, only this time focus on externalizing it such that the space following your palm ceases to exist." Reborn said.




Can you use this application to remove poisons and toxins from comrades?

If the external component of this application is used and the user makes contact with it, does it affect them?

Corvo's eyes squinted as Rin commented on his skinless finger. "Pfft, right, I-uh, I'm not that dumb." He scratches the back of his head and laughs nervously. Rin likened the next exercise to the Rasengan, which helped Corvo understand the general concept behind what form it should take. Once more, he focuses his chakra into a single point in space, or rather, externally, within the area directly above the palm of his right hand. He creates a relatively small void that emanates a spiral-like distortion around its center.


Hmm, I'm going to go with no, since the external application creates voids, yes of various shapes and sizes, but something as minute and intricate as being able to erase a foreign toxin that's entered the body of another person seems like it'd be too much. It'd also likely require med training even if it were possible.

Question: Once a void is created at a certain location it cannot be moved, right? If I were to create a void on the space above the palm of my hand for example, it wouldn't move with my hand?

I love your question because I was just going to ask you that question since it came to my mind that you may be confused about that. I asked the same to Xy so I'm going to wait until he answers to give you both the correct answer.

As to the first two questions I posed to you, you are correct. I said in Xy's post that I'd make an argument for other Hayabusa but I would not push the envelope. The logic you gave is the same as what I used when I decided on this technique.

Second question is correct as well, external component means outside the self. You make it and it distorts the matter existence around you, however, you are immune to this component. I made this as ideal as possible so there was no ambiguity. There is two types of ways to use this technique; on one's self and on other entities external to the self that way you could not accidentally use it against yourself or have it backfire if you used an application that was meant to be externalized.

This technique is dynamic in nature. That Rasengan-esque ball you created in your character's palm, you can move that from point a to b as if it were a Rasengan. You could also throw it in the air, in front of you, wherever. The area of that construct you created collapses everything it touches to nothingness. It can still be moved, it is not static. If you created a dragon, you could direct it to your opponent just like the a fire dragon or water dragon technique.

This is why this technique is good for taijutsu. If you wrap yourself in the external component people aren't going to want to come near you and you can move as you wish.



"Now then, go over to that tree in the distance and use that sphere as though it were the Rasengan or try tossing it from your hand over to it like a baseball. Either or works. Wherever the tree touches that sphere should collapse immediately into the void and cease to exist."





Final question before we move onto the next application.

Hayabusa vs. Hayabusa: if two members utilize the external component of this technique and they come into conflicting contact with one another what would happen? Would you expect a paradox or would you assume the standard rules for jutsu interaction with them?

With the creation of the void completed, Corvo launches the spiral ball into a nearby tree, causing it to collapse within the center point of the attack.


I'll go with the latter. I can see where the idea of a paradox comes into play but ultimately they're two offensive techniques conflicting with each other and should follow the standard rules of the RP, so which one gets erased into nothingness would depend on whichever void has the stronger rank. Voids of the same rank would just cancel each other out, I'm guessing.

"Nice, nice." Reborn patted his friend on the shoulder, commending his effort. However, the moment he touched Corvo's shoulder Corvo would feel a sudden drop of 40 chakra in his body. That portion of his chakra would suddenly vanish without a trace.

"Now we'll learn about using the middle dantian. Just like what we did with the lower dantian, focus only on the center dantian and mold the chakra internally throughout your entire body."




Middle Dantian: The Middle Dantian deals with vital existence; the existence of energy. Non-solid/liquid entities like plasmas, fire, lightning, raw chakra forms, and otherwise ethereal entities fall within this Dantian’s scope. The internal component of this application is rather simple, the user erases chakra/energy that exists within them either their own or that of another’s that is connected to the user. The amount of chakra the user can erase is proportional to the rank they use for this application. As for the external component, similar to the Lower Dantian, voids of various shapes are created which erase the chakra/energy, ethereal, and/or vital nature of entities. Again, like with the Lower Dantian, the user cannot directly manifest a chakra erasing void upon their opponents; contact with the void or between the user and the target must be established to directly affect the target.

Corvo could feel a sudden disappearance of his chakra as Rin spoke about the next application revolving around the middle dantian. Realizing that this was a display of the very ability he would soon come to learn, he did as he was instructed and focused solely on the center dantian. With this done, he molds the chakra about internally throughout his being, and waits for the next step.


Fairly simple in that the external application of this technique is similar to that of the lower dantian, only this one is capable of erasing ethereal/energy-based matter as oppose to physical. One thing I hadn't noticed until now is that one can erase the chakra of another being when physical contact is made under the internal portion. I don't see this as being particularly useful besides sapping a portion of the target's chakra pool however. Other than that, like the lower dantian the external portion can create voids of various shapes and sizes.

Previously I said and enforced the fact that our techniques outside of Neidan techniques would still be able to be detected by others with heightened senses. This is no longer the case. I played it safe, however, on the account of recent techniques and a discussion with LoK (if I need to get him to confirm it I will), because our chakra in body is unable to be detected by others, externalized in the form of techniques will also be hidden. Our techniques such as the basic elements, raw ninjutsu, etc, will require members to detect through the basic senses alone.

The case where you (or maybe Xylon, I can't remember) used Hiding in Camoflauge, the cloak of chakra masking you would be obscured from chakra sensors, however the sound of your movement, visuals, etc, would be a way to unmask you. This is just to get this out in the open to further outline the scope of our abilities.

No questions.


Corvo quickly deduced that an intruding force had invaded and manipulated him, watching as it seemingly produced manifestations of snakes that kept him bound in place. Despite this, he focused on the internal component of the middle dantian in order to erase the foreign chakra that had inserted itself within him. This would effectively release the illusion without need of any movement.​

"You're progressing well." Reborn said. "Our final phase in this technique is the use of the upper dantian." Reborn began a demonstration by making a single hand sign and utilizing the external component of the technique. He used the A-ranked variant of the technique "Now then, tell me how you feel?"



Upper: The Upper Dantian deals with the spiritual existence of an entity. Spiritual techniques, consciousness, mental capability, and spirits are all within this Dantian’s control. The internal component of this application controls the existence of illusions, consciousness, sentience, within the user. Enemy techniques that deal with mind control or that inject their consciousness within the Hayabusa can be defended against with the internal component. Q1: Logically, I'm under the impression that it would break. If you used the A rank variant of the technique which stipulates that the target needs to be within a certain distance to maintain, and they move out of that range, then they've removed themselves from the parameters that make the A-rank technique work, causing it to end.

Q2: Similar to the above, I believe it would end. Going along with your example if one wanted to reestablish the effect of the external component of this application after the target has successfully broken physical contact, they would need to spend another move and impose the A-ranked variant.

Q3: Is the easter egg you're referring to the bit about sensory perception, which seems to imply that the use of extra-sensory perception can be used to target them with this? There are two ways that someone can break this technique: Via exiting the range requirement dependent of the rank of the technique imposed onto them, or by removing themselves from the sensory perception of the Hayabusa, perhaps through the use of an intricate genjutsu.

Question 1: while nothing is set in stone (I'd likely ask the other mods their opinion) I'd say in this scenario the B-rank version of this technique would take hold. By default we need at least one hand seal for the A-ranked version and thus when we do so we activate our technique, just at a particular level. The user could use B-ranked close range if they wanted. What I'm getting at is, by removing yourself from the proximity of close range, you're still in range for the weaker. You haven't expelled the chakra from the technique you just moved into a range where the affects would be weaker. I'd personally say that in this case you'd still be under the affects of the technique if the opponent moved mid-range.

Question 2: I would say no, the technique wouldn't remain, mainly because the condition for S-rank is physical contact and not necessarily a hand seal. By removing the medium of casting, you remove the means of affect. So, while the previous scenario would be as I described it, the S-rank usage would not.

Question 3: I'll give you a hint on this one. What did we discuss about Taijin's scope? Everything regarding our existence is known to us. We can detect anything that is connected or is a part of our existence. So, the conditions in the Upper Dantian portion of this technique says that they must remove our sensory perception to break this technique. Is this possible?

Question 4: We used the middle dantian to erase chakra within you like with genjutsu. In character I'm telling you to use your upper dantian to erase the chakra of my upper dantian. However, can you achieve the same results of erasing the chakra of another Hayabusa's upper dantian chakra within you with the middle dantian?

Question 5: I lowered my chakra down to B-rank so that you can use A-rank and above chakra. Had I maintained A-rank, you'd be incapable of conjuring chakra enough to do what I was asking you. Now, you can use A-rank and below chakra only. What level of chakra do you need at a minimum to break hold of my technique at its current level?
