Ok so I was thinking, it seems as though luffy is clearly out of his league with the Yonkous. I feel like I know what you guys are going to say and I don't beleive luffy has many more tricks up his sleeve, maybe some parlor tricks but that's about it. So I'm saying there will be another time skip. But if there was how would they handle it? Well how cool would it be if everyone escapes big mom but big mom vows to kill everyone they loved. So they get to wano, meet scopper, and together all travel back through the grand line picking up everyone in danger. They are significantly stronger now so I think they could get through it way quicker and in the beginning of this manga oda really tried to drive home the fact that there are multiple ways to get through the grand line so we might even get to see some different things. This also gives everyone time to get stronger and face the yonkou.

Not a bad theory. Don't think oda has all that time. I mean he can do whatever he wants it's his manga after all but he said he was half way through and that's just too many new people to introduce. Plus I think all the new generations people are gunna end up beating the yonko together somehow someway. Which is why he had luffy get a fleet in derossa

Great theory I agree they need another time skip though I doubt big Lin Lin will be the reason I think they will fight kiado lose mid to high diff then scooper will save them and offer to train them hopefully as a group because the rest of the crew needs either CoA or CoO especially robin

What's with people and time skips? People keep saying that there's going to be a new one despite that the chance of that happening is almost zero. Yes Oda might skip a few days or weeks, like between Dressrosa and Zou, however that's something he does regularly and really has no relevance to actual combat training and thus really can't be called a time skip.

Do you know how much time has passed since they left Shabondy? It's difficult to make an exact estimation as Oda rarely gives concrete time indications, however I would say a month would be an accurate estimation. Luffy trained for two years in a hellish environment with one of the best Haki users in the world who said that he left a month early because there wasn't anything left he could teach him. All of that was to prepare Luffy for the New World and everyone in it, including Yonkou. Luffy had a preparation none of this rivals received. And then after a month people reason that Luffy can never beat a Yonkou and needs a new time skip? If Luffy isn't ready now, another half a year or so is not going to make a difference. Meaning this time the time skip would have to last a decade or something, which is really not going to happen.

The reality here is very simple: if Oda thought that 2 years wouldn't be enough for Luffy, then he would have made the original time skip last longer as doing a 2nd, longer time skip shortly after the first one, makes the latter one completely irrelevant. Especially when the justification is that Luffy isn't strong enough. When was Luffy ever supposed to be as strong as the guys he fought during the first half of the series? How did it make sense that a rookie who just entered the Grand Line was able to beat Crocodile, a Shichibukai? How did it make sense that a single rookie pirate crew beat CP9 and invaded Enies Lobbies? Beating characters that are supposed to be way out of his league, is Luffy's specialty. So there is really not going to be a time skip for a reason like that.

Also parlor tricks? Luffy used a high tier move against Cracker he didn't use against Doflamingo, so the chance that he has several more of those, is quite high and even if he doesn't, Oda will just give it to him as again that's what he did in the first half of the series.

And they really are not going to go all the way back to East Blue. Putting aside that that would ruin the story, even if they did it once before that doesn't mean they can suddenly go back and forth on a whim. The log pose decides your path and you can't force it to go quicker unless the Strawhats would somehow find eternal log poses for all their homes. On top of that BM is really not subtle enough to just limit her punishment to the individuals in question that are personally related to the Strawhats. She would just destroy the entire island. So not only would the Strawhats have to go all the way back they came from, along the road they would have to evacuate thousands of people. And what are they supposed to do with them then? If BM can reach them in East Blue, she can reach them anywhere.

It's really simple. If Big Mum really has all the intentions to hunt down everyone related to the Strawhats, there is only one thing they can do: beat the crap out of her. That Luffy is supposed to be no match, is something that never held back neither him nor Oda. With the current BM arc and the Wano and Reverie arcs coming up, they story is gaining momentum, so the last thing it needs is chain like a time skip that makes it lose that momentum.

Considering that Oda said he doesn't know how Luffy will defeat Kaido due to the Yonko being in another league than him, it's kinda just over-dramatic to be questioning why people talk about timeskips like this. It's better than Oda going "Yeah, Kaido is in another league, Luffy can't beat him and I don't know how" and then for Luffy to rapidly gain that power. Oda is a better writer than that to resort to that trope, especially in such a big way. Hell, maybe Luffy won't be the one to handle someone like Kaido, but Oda has made it clear that with his training with one of the best Haki users in that hellish environment, the Yonko are in another league. A timeskip is a neat way of giving power boosts for this without ass-pulling.

If Luffy isn't ready now, another half a year or so is not going to make a difference.
I find this hard to believe. It didn't take him a year and a half to go from barely beating Crocodile to beating someone vastly superior like Rob Lucci. And unless Luffy is gonna pull out higher Gears like he did when he went from Base to Gear 2/3, I don't see that kind of jump happening again in a way that makes sense/without exploiting the trope, and even with that that would be sketchy. It's not hard to see why people would want Oda to avoid the Shonen powerclimbing trope.

You better hope that the Croc fanboys don't see this post.

Lmao damn for real? I haven't seen too many of those fans.. thankfully.. lol they sound crazy. xd
I've seen worse. Someone in this section about a year ago made a thread titled "Why is Crocodile so underrated?", and in his post he said that Crocodile is equal to G4 Boundman.

Ok I totally see your logic on this but I feel like there is one thing that's lingering that needs to be addressed. Oda has shown in the manga many times that there are different routes that can be taken through the grand line and people pretty much make circles through it trying to find one piece. This is the straw hats first go through and I would have to call ex machema if they get the right path on the first go. Plus it would have been pointless to drive home the fact that there are multiple routes. Idk but that's my thought

I think you mean Deus ex Machina and dude, this is a fictional story written by a certain person who controls everything that is happening or how was it ever normal that a rookie pirate crew, consisting largely out of young and inexperienced members, was able to beat two Schichibukai, befriend two, had interactions with three others and had several indirect connections with the last one in a single year? The Strawhats were involved somehow with all the Shichibukai, encountered all the marine admirals and either caused or took part in several notorious events. And then I'm not even mentioning that they conveniently have the only person in the world that can read Poneglyph in their crew and that they have the support of the vice-captain of the Roger Pirates.

And after the time-skip they became even worse. In around a month they succeeded in beating again a Shicihbukai, allying themselves with two former Shichibukai and have been picking fights with two Yonkou at the same time =/ How was any of this ever normal? They might not have been going in a perfect straight line, but that doesn't take away that they have been quite privileged during their journey. Why? Because they are the main characters.

Also the fact that their are multiple routes that can be taken, doesn't change the reality that they can't go on a whim from one side of the world to the other in a flash. Even in the case they would have eternal log poses to go all the way back to East Blue, they would have to cross half the world and for what? Oda has quite a few storylines running, so really doesn't have time nor luxury to waste on an irrelevant quest that leads them straight back home.

Theres no need for a timeskip, the only people who think there is are just underestimating how strong Luffy already is. For all we know awakening the Gomu Gomu no mi can give Luffy a major boost in power.

His G4 already has great Offense and defense, imagine if he just simply improved the Time limit he would actually be able to beat the sweet commanders on his own.

It's preferable to the "magic power boost" shonen trope.

But if Luffy awakened his fruit or improved his G4 its easily justified. He wouldn't be pulling anything out his ass we haven't already heard about.

I can understand you wanting something different though. But we shouldnt underestimate Luffy or Oda, he's going to make sure Luffy gets stronger in a very convincing way and theres still plenty of arcs left to do it.
