It is a perennial theme of western political philosophy that the best form of government is rule by the best, namely aristocracy.

Rome, once the pride of statesmen like Marcus Aurelius, became what Juvenal mocked as “bread and circuses.” And now we see the western world becoming little more than welfare and Hollywood.

Like Sisyphus who rolls his boulder up a hill only to watch it fall back, the ideal state, the Platonic aristocracy that is rule by the best of men, always falls back under the weight of human nature.

Hitler made the same point. Taking away the right to vote is harsh, I have heard people say that you should be at least 20 years old but I don't know. Focusing more education early on for people in school about politics could be good I think so that people vote for actual politics and not just charisma.

and who really knows what's going on in the government besides the rulers ? no one, all the analysers are just talking. they don't know shit. all the doctors in politics, in geopolitics, all the journalists etc. don't know shit.

so, ultimately, everyone is being manipulated, maybe.

also there is this concern I have about democracy, just a reflexion, I need POVs on that : isn't the 8 years max term problematic ? how can someone design a serious / solid plan for a country that will show it's results in 4 years, max 8 years ? isn't the 8 years term a childish proposition ? the results of that are candidates that talk about secondary problems and don't adress serious matters rationnaly in there programs.
