That's cause people just see the numbers 4K and 1080 without actually knowing much about what it is thus 4000>1080 lol it's funny cause tv companies have had to strip 1080 tvs of some features to make their 4ks look better
Yeah, but there's no point in having a 4K TV when video games are still released without native 1080p support, consoles struggle to reach 1080p, and the majority of TV companies still air 720p and call it HD. 4K is still on the enthusiast level, not the consumer level. In the U.S., this side of technology will be forever held back thanks to the Internet monopolies.

I agree, companies love using 4K support as selling points when in fact there's barely anything that uses it. And like you said most things claimed 4K still aren't. Game consoles have ways to go, I'm not positive but I think even the PS4 pro, which is touted as a 4K gaming device isn't actually 4K, but I'm not sure about that one

It'll probably be 1080p or 1440p upscaled to 4K. There's no way they can release a console under $1000 that can play native 4K games without the graphics suffering tremendously.

Technology is moving quicker and quicker by the year... it's clearly starting to outrun itself in areas like this. It wouldn't hurt to take time out to master what's already out there, to allow other areas of tech catch up.

The next step is Nintendo Switch, it's also a handheld and the big 3 (Mario, Pokemon and Zelda) are all gonna be featured on it, whether the handheld part of it will be 720 or 1080 isn't known yet, or at least it wasn't last i checked
