When it comes to Indra and Ashura transmigrants, I think we can pinpoint when their chakra swapped individuals pretty effectively. From what I can tell, there were no transmigrants between Madara and Sasuke and Hashirama and Naruto. This can be proven by when Madara died.

When Obito attacked, Naruto was a newborn and Sasuke was under a year old. Obito attacked Konoha less than a year after he left Madara's hideout. This means Sasuke was born right around the time Madara died, creating a perfect transition for Indra's chakra.

HOWEVER..... this would mean that Ashura's chakra quite literally waited decades to transmigrate again. Hashirama died decades before Madara did, meaning Ashura's chakra simply wandered the world for decades until Madara finally died, than picked Naruto as its transmigrant.

Now its possible Ashura transmigrated between that time (Minato as an Ashura transmigrant anyone?? JK) but more than likely he didn't. Thoughts on this matter?

Well transmigrant chakra isn't passed down genetically so who knows if it's possible for multiple transmigrants to exist in the same time since they don't work like straight up reincarnation

No, Madara died when Obito was still a teenager. The way Kishi portrayed it Indra and Ashura's souls won't appear until their transmigrants unlock their potential.

Naruto didn't sense Indra's presence in Sasuke until the time Sasuke awakened MS while Obito noticed how Naruto's power was different around the time his Yang started to bloom (after unlocking KCM).

Ashura's chakra most likely didn't transmigrate until Indra's did.

The reason for the transmigration was because of their feud. It would be silly for Ashura to transmigrate again, not knowing if Indra was going to also transmigrate again or accept his L, so he waited for Indra.

Ah, but does transmigration have to happen at birth?

Hogoromo suggested that Naruto's personality was the reason Ashura chose him for transmigration.

What do you mean by two generations? I'm pretty sure no more than three years passed in between Madara dying and Sasuke being born.

When Madara died the Senju and Uzumaki was nearly extinct. Only Nagato and Kushina was alive for the Uzumaki's. When that happened Indra had to wait till an Uchiha was born because A Itachi was born already. B no other Uchiha was born yet. And C no one for Ashura to transmigrate into. So when Naruto was born Ashura and Indra moved into them.

It could have been even less. We know Obito attacked the leaf about a year after leaving Madara's hideout, or roughly a year after madara finally died. We also know Sasuke was very young during this attack, a year or less. Sasuke could have been born very shortly after Madara's death.
