In every story someone luckily gets the power. Only person in One Piece that truly worked hard for every inch of his power is Usopp and even he had some luck. On Naruto it was Rock Lee and even I could argue his only hope is Eight Inner Gates. Your point? You don't need to get you abilities a certain way to make a story good, a story is good because of character development, illustration if its a manga/anime, overall plot, and whether you like the genre. Who gives a **** if someone happened to eat a fruit to gain magical powers. One Piece is still a great Manga.

It has to be explained and be reasonable. Eating a fruit is within the laws of the manga from day 1 so it's no issue there.

Giving random powerups in the middle of arcs to defeat an otherwise untouchable enemy, is crap tier lazy writing. Give me a manga and I can do that.

I still have an issue with Oda's Enies Lobby powerups for Zoro and Sanji (though this ones starting to make sense), until they are properly explained.

Crocodile beat Luffy twice, if he was serious the boy would be dead. Don Krieg was some shit. He beat Doffy with an entire country and a few thousand warriors helping not to mention Doffy got ****ed up by Law. Rob was a fair fight I agree. But what about Naruto v. Neji? Naruto v. Kiba? Or do you want real fights when others had real abilities. Naruto oneshot Kakazu a ****ing immortal. With no help from the ninetails.

THE kyuubi didnt want to help this ninja! In fact he literally took over him, made it harder for him to use Sage Mode. Naruto had to steal chakra from him to get the Chakra Mode and he had to befriend him for Tail Beast chakra mode.
