Relax, I got lazy..

Not reading all of this, because reading the first few paragraphs, it has the same old stupid arguments, if you could summarize it, that'd be nice. Like I said, this is a term coined by feminism. Words cannot be changed to fit the narrative of a bias group. Rape is not normalized or conditioned thereof because of the actions of certain peopl

It already is...

Thread maker believes that rape culture doesn't exist because it's not adopted by the all U.S. citizens. But according to every dictionary culture means the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time. Now, with that definition we can confidently come to the conclusion that rape culture does exist, surely not everybody practices rape culture, but it does exist and it's obvious to those who actually pay attention to world. The majority of feminists believe that men can't be raped by women, so that's rape culture right there. There are also those who blame female rape victims because they wore clothes that were "too revealing", another example or rape culture. With this being said... ignore thread maker. He's either completely and utterly retarded, or he's just a loser basement dweller who needs to get some reactions he can jerk off to before going to sleep.

"Objectification of women is a large part of relationship abuse/rape culture and has serious consequences"

Not doing too well with your sources buddy. Seeing on how (some) women objectify themselves.

This article is also talking about how GTA is sexist :lol

So we live in a spanish culture? Never knew, I thought America was predominately a English speaking culture

I never knew we live in a culture where women have more legal rights than men, so feminism is retarded all this time

We live in an incest culture? Even though we are primarily founded on a Christian foundation.

We live in a misogyny culture? Guess feminism is needed after all

You sound like a retard who's added nothing constructive to the thread

Your not bringing out facts. At least it was an attempt, which I wasted my time on.

Also, your focus to much on the word "culture", you are making yourself look like an idiot.

Argumentum ad Ignorantiam: (appeal to ignorance) the fallacy that a proposition is true simply on the basis that it has not been proved false or that it is false simply because it has not been proved true

You're asking to disprove an imaginary friend. This a term feminist coined accepted by feminist. Essentially you're telling me to accept a word including culture without focusing on culture? Even further, you're agreeing with Zero when he used the exact definition of what a culture is.

How am I going to bring facts to something that doesn't exist?

You can easily google rape culture myths, I for one don't like posting bias articles so I won't do it

Because you don't want to believe it.

Because it has not been proven? :lmao:

So I'm not going to. Rape culture is a term coined by feminist that's manipulated a word to fit their narrative, just like mansplaining

If we you use Riker's logic, then we live in a Spanish culture. Hopefully when I wake up, I'll see at least one logical argument or statistics to prove we live in a rape culture. You guys are using the same argumentation as the wage gap, guess this thread is as good as dead

You say its an made up word created by Feminism to support their argument, but it hasn't been disproven by facts. Where is the debunking?

Your not really saying anything.

Because you're asking me to disprove an opinion as rape culture is not a fact to begin with. Like you're trying to say a video game adds to rape culture and haven't refuted what I said previously

Rape is fact. That is essentially what we are arguing. How we are normalising rape in our society?

You beefing over a word is senseless.

Well the dictionary says culture is dot dot dot,"now we can confidently come to the conclusion that rape culture exists". If that is not the worst case of circular logic fallacy, I don't know what is. To prove something exists one must first provide evidence. Giving a half ass definition of culture, and then claiming rape culture exists makes absolutely no sense.

ex. Suicide Culture exists, but just because not all U.S. citizens partake in it doesn't mean does not exist. Culture is defined as dot dot dot "Now, with that definition we can confidently come to the conclusion that suicide culture does exist, surely not everybody practices suicide culture, but it does exist and it's obvious to those who actually pay attention to world."

Reading through your entire comment, I'm seeing logical fallacies left and right; ad homs, equivocation, all bundled up in circular logic. Please, just stop.

No one said rape culture was the exclusive glorification of rape. Rape culture is an attempt by an individual or party to normalize acts of rape and sexual abuse. This can range from judges giving sentences that are far too light for a rapist, to people like Donald Trump gloating about how they can sexually assault women(can also apply to men), to pornographic videos that fetishize rape.
"Rape Culture is an attempt by an individual or party to normalize acts of rape and sexual abuse" No, that definition is not going to cut it. You can not define the acts of an individual(s) and label it a culture. The problem with the rape culture argument is that it tries to label the actions of a small group of individuals who act of their own volition with no outside influence, and then labels the collective of rapists and sexual abusers a "Rape Culture". If Donald Trump claims that he grabs women, he is responsible as an individual for his claims; this in no way proves that their is an existing cultural influence behind his actions. Rape culture exists in the middle east, and it exists in prison, because in both places it exists with no punishment. Riker, you of all people should know about Circular logic.

There are societies that OK suicide and consider it honorable or a ticket to heaven in certain conditions ( like sacrificing oneself to Gods etc). And you will see a number of completely absurd deaths as a result of these suicides.

So you can say that to that extent such actions are part of the culture or a sub culture within.

Jesus....

Aight, I'm gonna try to make this as thorough and simple as I can.

To determine if rape culture is real, the first thing we have to do is define rape culture. First thing to get out of the way: Rape culture is NOT a culture. If the basis of your argument is "You can't call this a culture," then that means that you haven't actually made an attempt to learn what rape culture is. You look at the name, see culture, and assume that it LITERALLY means a culture. You're basing your argument solely on the name of the concept, which is ignorance.

There are those who argue that the fact that the presence of rape culture in America is the product of certain social and cultural norms that once existed, such as males having a higher socioeconomic and political standings than women, but rape culture itself is not meant to refer to an actual culture.

Now, for the actual definition of rape culture: Rape culture means a setting where rape and sexual assault are normalized. Rape culture is a title given to the trivialization of rape and sexual assault. To determine if the term(rape culture) exists, we have to ask ourselves, do the concepts that the title refers to(instances of rape/sexual assault being trivialized and normalized) occur.

The answer to that is, "Yes." I bring up Donald Trump's words because that's an example of someone trivializing and normalizing acts of sexual assault. I bring up Brock Turner and other judges because those are examples of people trivializing rape. Rape is trivialized when people blame people who are raped for the clothing they are worn inside of assigning the blame to the actual rapist. Rape is trivialized when the rape of men is made into a joke instead of being addressed as something serious.

The concepts that the term "rape culture" refer to are observable as something that actually happens. Therefore, rape culture is indeed real. No, it's not a literal, actual culture, it's simply a term created to describe a specific phenomena that takes several forms. You can argue that the use of the word "culture" for the title is wrong, but that not that the concepts it refers to doesn't exist.
