Sasori shuts down a lot of top class ninja

Just because of his anatomy alone, Sasori shuts down a lot of skilled ninja. Some examples:

-Top class poison users such as Hanzo have no effect on him.

-Genjutsu (infinite tsukiyomi included) shouldn't affect him since he's merely a puppet. He doesn't have any senses. Sure his puppet self can see and hear but it's not a real, living body. So all genjutsu users should be nullified.

-Sasori is quite possibly the hardest counter to Hidan in the series since the only piece of real flesh that he has (his heart) is better guarded than the money in the federal reserve.

-Top class Ninja with poor stamina can be outlasted by him since he doesn't have the same limitations a normal human does.

If you think about it properly, Sasori would have a great shot at defeating someone as skilled as Itachi (and I don't like to admit that). Itachi would be robbed of his ability to one-shot with genjutsu and Sasori can evade totsuka by switching to another puppet. Not to mention that Itachi's one glaring weakness (stamina) is something that Sasori has plenty of as puppet.

In the "real" shinobi world, without plot armor, it's all about countering. And sasori is hard to counter. Idk about itachi, but he could beat a lot of top shinobi in nv.

Stealth Sakura wank, it seems. A lot of non-top-tier ninja can counter him severely or have ways to not get poisoned and beat him without genjutsu.

Sasori, while pretty cool, unfortunately lacks strength, speed, any notable defense or offense which just gets him killed against a good number of notable people.

As weird as it sounds, Itachi would either low diff him or lose mid-diff with no in between. Whether Itachi would take it or not depends on his ability to locate Sasori's heart quickly (before the 100 puppet spam starts basically, which makes the fight very troublesome).

He'd probably do it somehow, in true Itachi style. I just got a vision of him using kunai to prop open Sasori's shell to reveal his heart, he stabs the heart and gives a lecture. The end.

good thread. But I don't believe Sasori stands much chance against Itachi. But it'll be touch for him considering Itachi's base moveset isn't exactly full of defense busting moves. He makes up for that with genjutsu and speed. I think a problem Sasori has is the speed of his attacks. Not saying he is fodder but people with movements and reactions far above Sakura/Chiyo should be able to avoid his worst. Intel can play a role too. If an opponent doesn't know that one scratch could prove fatetul then they could fall for Sasori's trick if they are careless.
