8.5 Generation of Gaming [4k]

Hey guys I just want your opinions on this, well you see I've bought my PS4 1 and a half years ago and as you are all aware the PS4 Pro is coming in November. I'm honestly triggered because If I want to not get left behind on playstation i will have to shell out yet another $400 just to make my game look prettier and run slightly better. I've been a Sony Playstation fanboy since I was a toddler and own every playstation console and handheld. I feel betrayed honestly, i was expecting 5 -7 years out of PS4..now we have a pro??

Since Microsoft is releasing the much more powerful Xbox One Project Scorpio next year..i think I will just continue using my original PS4 and save until the Scorpio comes out and that way I will have a far more powerful console than this PS4 Pro... in all honesty do you think I'm a bandwagoner in anyway??

and if you are in a similar situation as me what would you do??

please don't say PC..i'm not really into that because most ports these days are not very good and it does not have games like KHIII,FFXV and FFVII Remake what i'm most interested in.

so thoughts??

There's no need to upgrade. You're getting HDR next update so it's all good. If I were you, I wouldn't buy a xbox scorpio because all their titles are coming to PC so if you want exclusive games, you're not going to find it on the xbox one.

Nothing, my best friend is still using his PS3 and he's not planning to move to the PS4 at all so you should have that type of mindset.

All their titles are coming to PC? but Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV are only confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One and since Final Fantasy VII is a ps4 timed exclusive it will be for Xbox One or at least the Xbox One Scorpio as well.

The thing with PC gaming is that games that are ported to them turn out disastrous like Batman Arkham Knight for example...the console market is real big so developers put more effort into them.

He does not want to upgrade from PS3?? but that's way outdated now..we are already midcycle in the 8th Generartion

There's no point in upgrading. You are going to get a few good years out of your PS4 and honestly, the Scorpio is even less worth buying because it's just Microsoft's very late attempt to close the gap. By the time it comes out, it'll be another year closer to the next gen.

-sigh- you're right honestly..it would be silly to throw away so much more money again when the Next generation might be just around the corner. my PS4 will just have to Suffice until then I guess..man I've never felt this betrayed..it's business moves like this that makes companies lose loyal consumers...

People really can't keep up with the news, huh? The PlayStation-guys said sometime this year that all PS4 versions will be supported the same, meaning, all PS4 games will come out for all versions of PS4 hardware. They are one family. There won't be any games for PS4 Pro only.

Also, every single "older" PlayStation 4 console will get a free HDR firmware-upgrade soon. Only reason to get a PS4 Pro is when you want to play with upscaled 4K resolution and overall more processing power (especially useful for VR). If you don't have a 4K Tv/monitor it isn't woth it either.

Waste of money. Console games will forever look like shit (compared to PC) no matter what new version they come out with to milk you out of your cash. And 4K gaming on a console will look even more shit simply because they don't have the necessary processing power to render all that data at decent graphics quality. Don't fall for the hype. Save your money. And if you really "need" true 4K gaming, just go for PC.

Then by all means go for it! Oh, and you're gonna need a 4K TV for 4K gaming, and decent ones go for $400 and up. So, if you have no such TV you're looking at almost $1000 on new equipment. You know, taxes and all plus the new games you might want to buy.

Your fine with the normal PS4 model. I wouldn't upgrade unless Sony tries to make PS4 Pro exclusive games (which i doubt). I think there will be a PS5 but it will come after the PS4 and Pro have ran their time.

you don't need a 4K Tv to get the benefits of the extra horse power on Xbox Scorpio. I will get all the benefits on a 1080 Tv except for 4k

the Scorpio is said to run all games at 60 fps..not all games run that well on current hardware you know.

Unless you have a badass 4K tv I wouldn't bother, Sony can't release anything(and says they won't at all, which is bs) that's ps4 pro exclusive for a really long time unless they want to piss off a good amount of their fanbase. They will eventually despite what they say. If the pro is really that much more powerful gpu wise, they'd be stupid not to towards the end of the ps4 cycle. I'm sticking with my ps4, the graphics are damn good already. No need to waste the money any time soon imo

hmm yeah kinda sounds silly I know...but what if 4 years down the line Sony and Microsoft decide to just drop the Original PS4 and Original Xbox One because the newer versions sold a decent enough for them not to care anymore and games exclusively come out for the new more powerful consoles? I know they say they will not be abandoning the original hardware but things can change in a few years you can never be to sure

On topic though do nothing. It's not worth getting unless you've got a brand new 4k 3D touchscreen 70 inch madness HDR++ anti glare flat screen.
