So how did you get into anime and manga?

For me, it was through my god father. I remember back when my god father used to live with me when I was a kid, he'd stay up all night watch toonami. Usually I'd be in bed by the time Toonami came on, but one night my mom let me stay up passed my bedtime since it was my godfather's last day living with us before he moved out. Long story short, he got me hooked on dragon ball z (which was the first anime I've ever watched) and yu yu hakusho, and the rest is history.

For me , one of my friends copied Naruto's anime episodes 1-40 for me... At first , I made fun of him (I thought it's bad for a 15 year old boy to watch cartoons like this ) .... So I went to watch a little more (to make fun of him even more) And after I watched like 3 or 4 episodes , I was addicted !! :elmo:

When I was a child, there was a german tv-channel that showed lots of anime, right at the time when school ended back then. So, after you came home, you could turn on the tv, maybe have lunch with your family and then watch anime until the evening. Detective Conan, Sailor Moon, Phantom Thief Jeanne, Monster Rancher, Inuyasha, Digimon, Pokemon, Shin Chan, Dragon Ball, Yugioh, Flint Hammerhead, Ganbare Kickers!, Beyblade. So many good memories.

After high school I had no goal, nothing to do with my life. So I went to my friend's house and copied 32gb worth of anime (most of which was naruto).

I found Digimon on my own when I was a toddler, DBZ, Yugioh, beyblade, and Pokemon in kindergarten, but it wasn't until Naruto when I was in the 3rd grade that I knew this shit was called anime.

A friend recommended Naruto, and after a while, I learnt about the manga (and about NB) and it all went downhill from there.

I got into dubbed anime way back when toonami was on every weekday on cartoon network. DBZ was the primary anime I remember from that time. Once that weekday slot was replaced with the travesty that was Miguzi, Toonami moved to Saturday nights and introduced dubbed Naruto. It became the norm after that.

A bunch of kids in 6th grade running around with Shonen jump was how I got into Naruto & manga. DBZ Anime fan as far back as I can remember. But it's obviously because of Toonami

I was brought up watching DBZ so was only into that anime. However, one day Naruto took its slot on TV and into the wider manga and anime world I jumped.

When I was young I would watch Voltron, Silverhawks, Thundercats, and Robotech. By the early 1990s I was watching Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, Lupin, and Ranma 1/2 regularly. I remember a show called Samurai Pizza Cats too. In the mid-1990s Sci-Fi channel started playing Saturday Anime. I was in love with Record of Lodoss War, Tenchi Muyo, Dominion Tank Police, Project A-Ko, Bubblegum Crisis...just to name a few. In the late 1990s the Cartoon Network started Toonami. There were some good shows on that too, like Gundam Wing.

It all started in Elementary. After school I'd go home, eat and go to the living room to do my homework. I'd leave the Tv on, then DBZ would come up. At the time I didn't even know what Anime was, however it was by far my fav show and the other cartoons paled in comparison. Every now and then though it would go back to the beginning of that particular arc for some reason, which def. annoyed me. I'd also buy cassettes, which contained about 3-4 episodes each. After I was done with DBZ, I started watching DBGT.

Naruto/Naruto Shippuden though is what got me deeper into the Anime world and finally knew what Anime/Manga was.

I watched Pokemon as well when I was a kid alongside DBZ.
