If he really cared about his daughter he would try to keep in touch with her and show at least he cares. If he had sent letters telling he cares about her and asked how she was doing at least she would know she was in his thoughts and he did not just abandon her and her mother like we got in the gaiden. The fact he doesn't even care how she is doing or what she even looks like is a disgrace to all decent fathers everywhere. If Kishi wanted the audience to think he wants to be there for them but can't because of circumstances he should have shown him really not wanting to leave on his journey and being sad about going as well as wanting to come back as soon as possible. Even a picture of them that he keeps on himself and looks at frequently to use a motivation for what he is fighting for could have shown he cares but Kishi completely failed to show this.

Instead he shows an antisocial loner who left at the end of part one to go with Orichimaru that is gone most of part 2 and then leaves at the end of part 2 before the ten year time skip where he somehow is married and has a kid but is still gone. He doesn't appear to be sacrificing anything like some fans like to show but instead living the life of the traveling loner that he is when he goes on his journey. Hell even when he does visit during the gaiden or the movie it is never simply because he wants to see his family but either because he was dragged back because his daughter tracked him down or he needs to get a scroll translated. In the Boruto movie he doesn't even find it important enough to hang out with his daughter or watch her chunin exam match because he missed the rest of her life so why change things now. He definitely should not have been married and had a kid and frankly doesn't deserve to be called a father but is instead merely a sperm donor.

^^^^more trolling..

I would've been nice to see Sasuke thinking of his family and maybe even elaborating on his absence but in retrospect gaiden was illustrated for Saradas POV not Sasukes but we can fill in the blanks.

Does he care for Sarada & Sakura's well-being? Yes

Was his absence justified since he was the only person in the NV with the power to piece together the Intel the NV needed? Yes

Does Sasuke love Sakura & Sarada? Yes

Is Sasukes relationship with his wife & child unconventional? Yes

Is Sarada happy? Yes

End of discussion.

Showing not telling. I know a lot of people whose fathers were in the military and were gone for long periods of time during their childhoods and none of them acted like Sasuke and completely acted as if their kid didn't exist at all. Just accept that Kishi did a terrible job showing that Sasuke actually cared.

While Sakura was nuts for marrying him Sasuke would have been a shit father regardless of who he married.

I agree, Kishi could've dipicted Sasuke as longing for his family but that doesn't erase the underline moral depiction of him loving them. He cares for them to the point of rushing to their defense instantly & blindly and by passing down his ultimate sign of affection.

That's all..

Don't egg on that basher.

Think what you want. Kishi could have shown Sasuke as a good father but he did not and that is a fact. If Sasuke had shown that I would have given him credit but given what Kishi showed he is garbage and any woman wanting to marry him in out of their mind.

The only defense I see is that he is a army father. XD

while i'd like to agree with you, i think this is what you want to believe; you are filling the blanks the way is more enjoyable to you. Anyone who has any good pattern of relationship knows that sasuke was neglectful.

He was not only distant, he had no role in sarada's life up to 10 years to the point of having no idea how she looks. And he was in contact with Naruto.

Also she does not look happy in gaiden, and not in the movie she is 100% with Sasuke. I would like to see him trying to bond and building a relationship with Sarada, but nothing can justify his absence in Sakura and Sarada's life. This is not love.
