If he really cared about his daughter he would try to keep in touch with her and show at least he cares. If he had sent letters telling he cares about her and asked how she was doing at least she would know she was in his thoughts and he did not just abandon her and her mother like we got in the gaiden. The fact he doesn't even care how she is doing or what she even looks like is a disgrace to all decent fathers everywhere. If Kishi wanted the audience to think he wants to be there for them but can't because of circumstances he should have shown him really not wanting to leave on his journey and being sad about going as well as wanting to come back as soon as possible. Even a picture of them that he keeps on himself and looks at frequently to use a motivation for what he is fighting for could have shown he cares but Kishi completely failed to show this.
Instead he shows an antisocial loner who left at the end of part one to go with Orichimaru that is gone most of part 2 and then leaves at the end of part 2 before the ten year time skip where he somehow is married and has a kid but is still gone. He doesn't appear to be sacrificing anything like some fans like to show but instead living the life of the traveling loner that he is when he goes on his journey. Hell even when he does visit during the gaiden or the movie it is never simply because he wants to see his family but either because he was dragged back because his daughter tracked him down or he needs to get a scroll translated. In the Boruto movie he doesn't even find it important enough to hang out with his daughter or watch her chunin exam match because he missed the rest of her life so why change things now. He definitely should not have been married and had a kid and frankly doesn't deserve to be called a father but is instead merely a sperm donor.
