It's just a drawing author could give boruto and Kawaki any powers he wants. Plus there's a time skip so boruto reacting badly to Ottosukis powers at age 11 is irrelevant. Manga is full of asspull power ups and the tats could be another one

Definitely but i'd say that's wishful thinking- I don't blame anyone for wanting a new favourite strongest character to wank, but if Kawaki is stronger than Naruto/Sasuke then so is Boruto

Basically anime fans tend to seek stronger characters and why many people are wishful of the idea that Naruto and Sasuke have been bested by a stronger character or 5. It happens a lot in DBZ and Bleach.

It's basically why Bandwagoning exists. Some Itachi fans turned into Madara fans and then into Sasuke fans. More than you'd think.

It's because she's not a power fantasy. Being female, not smug/proud archetype and barely in the series means people didn't take to her how they did with various Uchiha (also Minato, Hashirama, Naruto to a less obvious effect)

It's also why a lot of people skipped Obito, he doesn't fill most of the power fantasy ticks that a lot of cool popular characters in this series do. People DID try wank Kaguya when she appeared but it died out very quickly.

Kawaki doesn't necessarily have to be stronger than Naruto to beat Naruto. For all we know the tattoo markings on his body could be tied to some power that gives him immunity to sage based and rikudou based attacks in the same way rinnegan users can absorb chakra based attacks.

It's not really that I wouldn't accept it if it where facts in the manga, It would just make more sense if he managed to defeat or get rid of naruto in some way shape or form without being stronger, or even a shinobi for that matter, cause then his statement of "the era of shinobi is over" would have better context then just the village around it being destroyed

Why does Kawaki needs to be more powerful so as to win against Naruto? I think I need to remind you guys some things...

1)Naruto is not teh main character anymore... What this means? That he is a side character... What this means? That he lost the power of plot. Which means that he can be killed now that he is a side character.
2)It's not Naruto's story but Boruto's now.
3)Asspulls happened in Naruto Manga from Kishi himself with the biggest onw to be the defeat of Madara! Do I need to remind how plot power made the OP Character to be defeated?
4)A hax tech or somebody else helps Kawaki.
5)Naruto is not a god. He can be killed. Neither he has JJ regeneration or is immune to poisons etc. In the end of the Day he is a human (and a rusty one now...) with power granted by the Sage.

For the above reasons (at least) it could be viewed why Naruto can be killed. Has Kawaki to be powerful enough or more powerful to do it? The answer is NO. Plot or the things can give him the tools to kill Naruto.

I doubt Kawaki could match full power RSM Naruto with AA. But Naruto also got negged by Momoshiki via saving the Village.

So... It doesn't necessarily take Kawaki to match Naruto's full power for him to take him out. Naruto probably could go out like Gaara did against Deidara.
