When he defeated Garaa in part 1? I understand everyone was sleep at the chunin exams and the 3rd was fighting but Asuma was out there with Shikamaru, Pakkun, Gamakichi, Shino and Sasuke witness the battle so they could have told Kakashi and Jiraiya about the battle i would have liked it more if Naruto got DQ after fight with Neji since he released his Kyubbi chakra anyway just to make up for it by fighting Gaara.

Promotion to the next rank isn't all about victories. It is about maturity,leadership,etc.

Why do you think only Shikamaru out of the whole class only got promoted to Chunin and not the others. It's because the authors didn't convince the Hokage that they were ready yet to be promoted. Also hearsay doesn't work, the guys who are testing you have to see it. Tsunade promoted Sakura the time after this CE because her skills had improved and she was transforming her affection for love into ninjutsu. She loved her hardworking aspect.

Graders are grading you on that and not about some victories especially not about some victories the Hoage or any other higher up didn't see.

Techniques have to be mature, Naruto was not ready to be promoted to Chunin at all.

You always solo my threads lmao but the thing is Naruto summoned Gamabunta and they worked together as a team like i remember them doing a combine transformation jutsu into the nine tails if Naruto wasnt there to summon Gamabunta then there would have been way more causalities

True but it's not enough to be promoted, Naruto didn't have the intelligence or maturity to be promoted to next level. Having a giant summon isn't enough

He was considered a Sage which is much better, that's basically the same level as Kage.

I agree but I think they were all jonin after time skip even though it wasn't mentioned. The mission to capture Itachi was S-Rank so they had to be at the level of jonin for Tsunade to give them the task.

Even Neji was a solid candidate, hadn't he lost his cool against Naruto about destiny crap...

And using Kurama's chakra is no DQ, it was Naruto's to use.

I think the reason he wasn't promoted was because of his lack of maturity...also the exams were never completed so that also affected the decision making....but the point here was that not many people had acknowledged his strength at that time...sure Naruto was crafty in battle and the moves he pulled off were pretty interesting so i guess he could have been promoted but because of his usual idiotic attitude and nature his accomplishments at battle were ignored. If we look seriously yep he sure had luck and Kyubi chakra but before that he was fighting using his brains against both Kiba and Neji..plus his Kage bunshin was a jonin level technique..i think these were enough to get him promoted..

There is a reason why Shikamaru was appointed to Chunin despite being weaker than most of the other participants. You aren't ranked based on strength or power, but how well you act under critical situations. It's based on how you think, as well.

Ability wise, Shikamaru was one of the few who was actually on a Chunin Level. Power wise? Not so much.

Ikr. The neji vs kido is proof neji is just as smart as he is strong, so the whole chuunin requirement is bogus. Seriously just another reason why i believe hiruzen was the worst hokage.
