Why did Orochimaru wanted the 3rd Hokage dead?

The more you think about it, Orochimaru could've easily destroyed the hidden leaf village in some other way, but he went out of his way to make sure that only certain people get killed. He didn't go on a killing spree.

I think Orochimaru saw the 3rd Hokage a disgrace to the title and believe that he is a shell of his former self.

It is kind of funny.. If Orochimaru had teamed up with Danzo during that attack, they could've easily taken over the hidden leaf village with no problem.

Honestly I have no clue why he killed Hiruzen specifically but likely Hiruzen wasn't his target in specific but he knew that he would big the biggest threat to his plan to destroy Konoha so he decided to take Hiruzen out first, but Hiruzen was a bit stronger than he anticipated and he wasn't in a condition to finish his plan after the fight(Since his arms were sealed) and had to call off the plan.

Sasuke, Orochimaru, Obito, Madara...

Sasuke wanted to destroy the village at a time when he wasnt strong enough to do so(MS), but after his discussion with the Hokage's with Orochimaru he abandoned that plan, so technically he was never in a position to do so, Obito couldn't as long as Itachi was alive, same with Orochimaru and Madara couldnt do it in his condition(Old/dead before the 4th great War).

Nagato had the best chance and Plot stopped that too.

Orochimaru clearly stated that he didn't care much for the position. But the other elders did wish it were him instead.

Orochimaru's ambitions did include becoming the Fourth Hokage, he intended to use the title for his own agenda but he wasn't picked.

Due to his own personal issues with Hiruzen. I think part of it was due to the fact that he wasn't picked as Yondaime.

Orochimaru tried and failed h: sasuke at the time was a genin so :dunno: and when he got MS naruto was there to protect the village along with the likes of kakashi gai etc so technically sasuke was never strong enough to beat the entire leaf.. Obito is the only one i agree with here and madara was long dead so :eww: and when he was revived leaf had rikudo naruto and sasuke on their side so again no... in any case i was referring to that time frame but only shinobi who was enemy of leaf as well as strong enough was obito (after minato died)

read above.. sasuke was a genin at that time... and sasuke was never strong enough to defeat entire leaf in any time frame... itachi doesn't count as he was allied with leaf not enemy.. and even he alone wouldn't stand a chance against the likes of jiraya, gai, kakashi and countless fodders combined but i'd agree that he would have been 2nd most dangerous threat after obito if he was truly an enemy of leaf...

MS Sasuke is stronger than Orochimaru though, who successfully destroyed a large portion of the village while someone stronger than Tsunade was in the Hokage.

So if Orochimaru is village destroying level and MS Sasuke >>>> Orochimaru, then he should have been strong enough to do more damage than Orochimaru did when he attacked the hidden leaf village.

But with SM Naruto, Kakashi and Gai protecting the hidden leaf village, it became increasingly difficult to attack it. So I see why he wouldn't be strong enough.

Did you just say Sasuke could not destroy the leaf in any time frame? EMS Sasuke and up solo the village. If he didn't go blind id say MS does too

You mean when BM naruto and plus versions along with MS kakashi and 8th gate gai were there to protect village? yes he could have if they were at war and sasuke was in the village but that wouldn't really be anything as may be even suigetsu could have destroyed empty village and if naruto and co were back in village in that time frame then Lol sasuke would have gotten stomped but now i realized that orochimaru could have though after gaining his arms back with edo hokages if he could control them that is....

I'm not saying sasuke wouldn't get killed or wrecked. But he would destroy the village, he'd lose like pain did, but in the end the village would be destroyed and burnt away for eternity
