It's not very different than playing video games.

It's like getting the background for video game characters and then improvising just for the hell of it bit you can't actually see the actors. For those reasons and some more. I don't consider it as similar to playing videogames.

I haven't used my imagination like that since I was about 9 with my cousin and we pretended to be sonic characters. I also don't like the spotlight so that's why I could see it as a bit childish/embarrassing. I couldn't do it irl, which might be kind if a compliment to you guys? Idk.

I used to be in the NDS before it turned to cancer, so both before/at 2014? Now I purely RP.



It does to people who care about what others think. When you get older or more mature, you kind of don't care what people think. I openly tell people I role play on an anime site, and I have plenty of friends while living an exciting life.

I consider myself pretty mature. ESPECIALLY if you're gauging that off of what others think of you.

I don't find it cringeworthy. With roleplaying you can allow an outlet for your imagination, you can do things which you cannot possibly do in real life. People here act like the anime characters because of restrictions placed on certain abilities forcing you to choose a certain anime character to use certain ability. If you want you can make an RP Bio of yourself and roleplay with it as long as you are comfortable with sharing some personal information (Most people do not like doing that on forums though).

About NB Roleplay, I actually like the concept a lot but the training and ranking system really deter me from participating in the RP. So, I actually do agree with Dannie partially; If I am interested in the RP; it's mostly to get those village banners. :th:

More along the lines of tabletop gaming, then it is video games.

There are dozens of tabletop games it could be compared to, DnD would be the most prominent example but there are dozens of different out of the box tabletop games that have the same aspects of playing a character. I doubt anyone is going outside their house screaming about being a ninja, just like someone who plays DnD isn't running around yelling about how they're a Paladin.

We're all here on an anime site about a boy and his dream to be the fictional leader of his fictional hometown. Not really seeing how being more mature then the next guy matters here. To anyone on the outside looking in, this whole site will seem childish as hell.

I'm referring to RPG tabletop games, it's the closest analogy for what any text based online RPG is. Sure there aren't dice deciding the fate of the character but instead what abilities you're able to accumulate and use but that doesn't remove the roleplaying aspect from either of them.

How is posting in the Naruto Discussion Section anymore glamorous? There's this whole air throughout this thread of "I'm better because I RP" or "I'm better because I don't sink low enough to RP." We're still all as I said once on a site about a boy and his dreams, it's like a pot calling a kettle black. You rationalize it anyway you'd like but you're still here, what's the difference between spending your time in any section on this site? You're still going to look the same as the people who spend their time in other sections, to anyone looking in from the outside.

You haven't exactly seen the NW RP then if you think it doesn't have a proper format, like with DnD it's a skill based set of rules and abilities. Because in NDS even though a majority of them are just childish trolls having fun, there's really no element of genuine malice unlike in the RP section like one RP'er getting jealous and greedy over CJs, backbiting, lack of sportsmanship among certain members, complaining to the point of harassing the RP Admin over him copyrighting certain techniques, acting like a bunch of spoiled jealous brats, not to mention some rp'ers bullying other rp'ers so they would quit. It has become a very toxic community.

NDS is just as bad if not worse, the whole site can be at times. Numerous examples can be cited of people telling each other to kill themselves, calling each other names, degrading and bullying each other etc in NDS as well as the GDS. It's not often that you see a RP thread deleted for that kind of behavior but it happens regularly in the General Discussion Section and the Naruto Discussion section. Those sections have had limits on the kinds of threads that can be made because of the problems they cause. You can try and play it down as just trolling, but if threads and posts are being continuously removed from those sections someone has to be going too far. You put people with contrasting ideals, and differing opinions together in any section and you're going to get some kind of problems.

How many people get banned because they did or said something wrong in the RP section?

On a side note, you ended up looping this all back around to "My community is better than your community." Which was the whole thing I was pointing towards when I posted.

I'm not saying there's no format or theme but there's not as much as DnD for example. So this is basically a minigame mmorpg type thing without any phyical representation. That's better than just playing ninja for the sake of it. Aren't there actual Naruto games that do this online though? Probably too shitty?

Scrabble would be just below RP here in terms of entertainment for me by the sounds of it. It's easier to imagine with physical things in front of you. Without the dice and luck aspect I don't see how there could be much competition. I imagine it turns out to be pokemon. Water > fire and that sort of stuff.

Lmao no need to lashout. Did I say NDS is glamarous? It's comedic cancer and fapping most of the time. Discussions don't sound as cringey as playing ninja by text. About the superiority thing, you're right. No need for the pride anyone is feeling. Pot calling the kettle black? No. We've all reached a tiny lvl of nerdyness from signing up to a forum but there are different lvls of weeaboo. Some part of RP don't look bad. There was a joke thread about macdonalds and that was good.

All gonna look the same to people on the outside? Not at all. I'm on the inside and I still think some RP is more cringey than just messing about in NDS or general discussion (which is where I mainly go now.) Which is definitely he least weeabooish and cringey sub-forum as it acts as a kind if international news channel and morale compass changing place. I'd never get some of the news otherwise.

Once again. Fighting on NDS is pointless. Especially with the bias lvls. Therefore I us it to joke around with other members, make references, rao battles, general banter, memes, predictions etc

Even if you did mainly argue. You're just discussing an interest, not pretending you're in the universe. People discuss programmes like GoT, House of Cards & BB all the time. There's different lvls you can immerse yourself as a fan though. From talking about it to dressing up and going to conventions and so on. Not everyone watched Naruto for "the boy and his dreams" btw and if you were to describe it to someone who wasn't familiar with it. That's not what you'd tell them. You'd say it's about ninja blah blah blah. Naruto as a character is stupid and boring for the most part imo.
