| Basic Information:
Looks An impressive physical specimen and an even greater eccentric in appearance. Standing at five feet-six inches, she has hair dark as charcoal, typically styled into a pair of robust pigtails dubbed 'Ox Horns' and accessorized with silk brocades and ribbons. In a plight to overcome her perceived imperfections in Taijutsu, she under went a grueling physical regimen in her childhood. This forged the fair skinned beauty into a sight to behold. At present she is most distinguished by her muscular legs, tight arms and compact upper body; visibly much stronger than those of your average female. Fashionista extraordinaire, her attire of choice is a qipao, an ancient dress once worn by the maidens from her maternal village. In her youth she preferred to dress in red but soon switched to a warmer blue hue. Due to her dynamic fighting style, the dress has been modified to facilitate far wider range of motion than a generic ones. To complete her ensemble are brown tights and a pair of shin high, white combat boots. On either of her wrists are large spiked bracelets that add onto her je ne sais quoi. Chun Li's forehead protector is not ordinarily visible as she has taken to wearing it underneath her qipao on her left hip. |
Personality
An adventurous, cheerful, fortitudinous spirit with an elegant poise to match her fiery demeanor. In an age of decadence, she posses a righteous moral compass with an immense sense of justice. A kindred to the disenfranchised, she sympathizes and devoutly believes in their protection. Those lucky to make her close counsel, will be privy to her playfully sweet and feminine personality. However, she is not without her flaws, as she has known to get very competitive. Towing the fine line of confidence and arrogance she does not take kindly to those who insult her greatest pride: combat.

The tale of Eastern Phoenix begins at the base of the alps on the outskirts of the village of Nadeshiko. Born in the dark of night on the, Chun Li was the offspring of an odd pair. Her mother, a top grade ninja and child of Nadeshiko had taken to marrying a renowned Amegakure missing nin, at a time when there existed an unspoken hostility between the two. To add onto their woes, her love stricken mother had ignored their villages custom which deemed all inhabitants win their spouses via combat. It was this decision that plunged Chun Li into a childhood of misery that was plagued with scorn from adults and ridicule from peers. Her only solace in those days were the time she spent with her adoptive brother. The two often went on wild adventures; climbing tall trees, hunting and at times camping out on days on end.
At the age of five, Chun-Li saw her first classical performance play; Peking Opera. The stories central protagonist had fascinated her so much so it proved the catalyst in her vigorously practicing taijutsu. However, to her frustration her teachings and in part her own movements were much different from the gorgeous movements she remembered from Peking Opera. Sensing his daughter's dissatisfaction, her father supplemented her studied with his own bonus training sessions from then on. With that, Chun-Li’s skills in improved rapidly and soon picked up from her father, who himself was heralded to have "legendary legs." Her insatiable thirst for perfection soon saw her acclimate more styles onto her repertoire making her a genius in the arts.
During her twelfth year, misfortune and a life changing event struck their household. A group of Ame assassins infiltrated their village witch instruction to execute specified targets. It came to light that her father and his supposed son had been an undercover agent spying on the happenings of their village, a task they'd had intended to conduct with ruthless precision. However, the old dog had grown soft after the birth of his daughter and switched allegiances. The punishment for his in-subordination, was death, a fate extended to each survive. A small albeit spectacular skirmish ensued between himself and his supposed son.
In the end the assassin corp championed by a man with the moniker 'Bison' cornered and cut both down. As for Chun, her inadequacy saw her take flight and disappear as fast as she could. For seven days and nights, she ran as fast as her feet could carry her before collapsing from exhaustion. Had it not been for a Kumogakure envoy passing passing through and taking pity on her, she'd have followed her parents before her. Chun-Li was adopted by one of the group's families and renamed Xiang, a name that never quite stuck. Her life was relatively peaceful from then on. Nonetheless, the desire to bring her parent's murderers to justice became the flame that lit her ambition and sparked her rebirth as a full fledged avenger. Now she aims at becoming a legendary ninja and forming a special task force suited to hunt for 'him'.
