Capitalism advanced faster than regulations on capitalism did. Then, when regulations started to appear, the capitalists were already in strong control of the legislature and were able to reverse or impede those regulations. The end.

I don't mind it all that much. Just keep capitalism out of housing development and from restricting welfare/medical benefits.

I don't really like the concept of Capitalism as it is or the 1% gap. I have no idea how to get around it, but it's a shame we haven't.

Gap is vast, how vast isn't known to me.

As for why it is allowed to happen. Many people aren't even aware of the existence of the top 1%, those that are have no idea how large the gap is and how much they plunder everyone else, and even among those that know all that was aforementioned only a few have thought of a solution and almost non have the power to apply the solution.

Life is what it is but this is a manmade system that is designed to benefit a few at the expense of everyone else.
We could definitely do better.
