At worst, he'd neglect her character. At best, she'd have a fair amount of screentime for a side character.
In the short amount she had for her introduction- Kishimoto did pretty well. I don't think you have anything to worry about with Asuma's kid.
Sure, but my original point was that I would have liked it if they had gone a new route with the continuation of the manga in the new generation and had a singular titular character. I feel like Mirai left a positive impact with fans and would have been a good way for the writers to explore new themes beyond this balance in Yin and Yang stuff. Plus, Mirai is a Sarutobi, so if Kishi wanted her to go the Hokage route, or if the new writer did, they'd have that option.
But I realize that the manga is written primarily for the purposes of marketing, so continuing the most popular cast members' generation plus adding in an obligatory mysterious character (who is admittedly intriguing, I underplayed how interesting Mitsuki is in comparison to what we've had in this entire series before) was always the way it was probably going to go. It's just unfortunate, is all.
It's a girl- it's a shonen manga where a girl is never going to lead- She is to be there but one step behind. If she does do something in one chapter or some specific arc, sooner or later she would need major saving by the male lead to keep the ego of the target audience intact.
And isn't it titled Boruto?
And yeah- 10 chapters -Kishi's idea to get even with his crazy fan base attack over Sarada's parentage. U_U
Okay, I accept that my ideal world is fanfic. XD
That said, I don't think that a female character would be dude repellent or whatever. Female characters do super well in Japan in other forms of media, so why not in shounen? These writers need to stop being so formulaic and just go for it. Hell, characters the fanbase in the West doesn't like who didn't really get anywhere near the development of the male cast are still popular in the East.
They could have just renamed the manga
Sarutobi. :yeah: Get some play off of the classic Journey to the West or whatever, if they need to stay traditional.
