The Novels reference non-canon material (blood prison). /thread
To be fair, it only had a place called that. The blood prison movie events weren't mentioned.
Kishimoto himself promoted the novels with his movie which he confirmed canon, he specifically stated the novels along with the last explain the events between 699 - 700. :sigar:
He did? Source pls.

Doesn't matter to me.

It was the simplest matter in the world to simply not mention any non-canon material, and yet they did. If it was such a minute detail that it doesn't effect the plot, then there was no reason to include it in the first place, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The novel went out of its way to mention a non-canon location, for whatever reason.

I don't understand what's wrong with considering the novels canon. As far as I know they don't contradict the manga. If something happens in Boruto scans that obviously contradicts the novels (Kakashi falling in love?), then definitely it would invalidate novels, but I mean, something had to happen between Chapter 699 and 700, and Itachi had to have killed his lover somehow, etc.

It's not the same thing as the anime where if certain events happened in between manga events, then the manga chronology makes zero sense (Kakashi vs. Sage Kabuto; Chunin Exams 2, etc).

In debates and stuff it's better to keep it manga-specific because it's easier to work with manga scans than text, but
The Novels mean that Blood Prison is also canon, and we all know Blood Prison contradicts the manga.

Well, this is enough for me to not consider the novels canon, then

Well, I tried. On the contrary, I think it isn't canon either.

I have two of the books, the Blood Prison events were mentioned. When they that prison place, it goes on to say Naruto was framed. And it's not the same place it once was.
I haven't read it but some dude who tried to argue it was canon told me that. He did bring up a good point tho, the kakashi novel has a "orginal story by kishimoto" on it. I think it was referring to the manga but idk mane.

Yeah, right... of course The Last is canon...

You must be registered for see images

Yeah.. ikr? its as cannon as SasuSaku

I mean how would they ever doubt Sasuke and Sakura's relationship?

Just because we knew nothing of it. Only the fact that Sasuke hates Sakura to the point that he called her useless and killed her a bunch of times..

When it comes to cannon believability, SasuSaku is much more cannon than NaruHina

Fact Kishi as the owner of Naruto is the only one who can say what is or is not canon. And only Kishi can change that not some fan out their. We have enough trouble with Uchiha fanatics and Haruno fanatics trying yo change canon with out adding the rest to the mix.

I used to believe that canon was simply equivalent to "what was shown in the manga."

Now I understand that it can also be whatever the content owners decide to say it is. Which I'm SURE has nothing to do with promoting their products and increasing sales.

So, yay to the movies and novels and whatever else they might decide to bless in the future. I'll just ignore my bullshit detector and keep reading/watching :lmao:
