This is where i deduced that either he is completely merged with them and un-merges with them quickly to do damage to their enemies, or that they are simply very closely intertwined. I've already said why he attacks and keeps them from merging. His attacks are used by controlling his chakra into needle sized pins on his fingers. If he can do that no sweat, why can't he simply release chakra at a larger more un-focused way? Makes no sense to me.
