The way you implied people like Sasuke because he's a deep character and then listed only two superficial reasons for liking him is just extremely funny to me.

The others listed the reasons for me, so I made it short. ;)

-Powerful
-Good character design
-Interesting developments
-Propelled the narrative forward
-Kishimoto has evidently put much time and care into him
-Sympathetic back story

Too many reasons to list. It makes sense that he has the largest fanbase. Both on and off NB.

Sasuke has been a popular character since the beginning, due to him being a main character, and an interesting one.

When newer characters who come in the same category of: Bad-ass, mysterious/cool, and skilled. People who love these types of characters have more to choose from than just Sasuke. They can get interested in characters like Neji, Madara, Kakashi, and so forth.

Like someone pointed out, when these characters become less interesting, or die out. The fan's can move into a different demographic. Personally I think it is a bit of a stretch to name Sasuke the best character of the series, but he is good. Kishimoto's writing from start to finish on Sasuke has not always been 'perfect'. I think the character who received the best development from start to finish and still remains interesting would be Jiraiya.

Too bad most of his fan base left.

*Looks at OP's pointless replies*

**** off ...

I am sorry ... what?

Nah, he appeals to people like me too; you know, those who actually study literature and are not silly keyboard warriors pulling stuff out of their ass. To that kind, Sasuke is one of the very few well-written characters in the trash genre called anime.

Good to hear it, I can definitely see the appeal but it's the fact that change happens around him rather than to him and he's so tight-lipped about how these events are actually affecting him that lead me to not get that engaged with him. Reading this manga for the first time Bee fight til Kaguya fight I wouldn't have been surprised if they never did anything with his character other than swapping him across sides. Post-valley fight did it's best to salvage this development by saying it there was there the whole time but I refuse to believe Kishimoto is possibly capable of THAT much subtlety.

Maybe i'm just more geared to the Obito/Kabuto types. I'm sure they're similar but Shippuden Sasuke never showed that vulnerability I believe you need to be a truly interesting and complex character. I personally like the character as a 12 year old and as an adult- but not inbetween. I just disconnect immediately with characters who are glorified/sexualised as a power fantasy whilst being awful, vengeful people. It's that anti-hero treatment which can either be amazing (Zuko, Comic Stark) or awful (Seto Kaiba, Shadow the Edgehog etc etc.)

I still stick to what I said, past you and Indra- a smart Uchiha fan is as rare as a Unicorn.

I don't see why it's so surprising. Sasuke is one of the best characters in the manga whose story had one of the best and intriguing developments. Parralled to the main character whose only goal was to chase Sasuke it makes sense so many fans would gravitate to Sasuke. I loved P1 Sasuke myself and p2 Sasuke wasn't bad as well. I just wish he killed Naruto and completed his revolution.

This tbh.

Alot if the time now though we just see bandwagoning & Fanboys who can't admit Sasukesama's flaws.

Never seen so much irony in one post

OT: Because that's what fanboys do. He's a great character don't get me wrong. But maybe it's because of the sharigan?

Well, he was my fav since the first time I got introduced to Naruto via ps2 game Naruto ultimate ninja and loved his design and abilites.

Watching him grow and get stronger made me attached to him and more interested in his actions.

Those are my reasons for liking him.

Why? Can't you mind your own freaking business?

He was being light-hearted. Chill.

And this isn't just you but the reason why everybody hates the Sasuke fanboys really, let's be honest. You can like whoever you like- too many of you coincidentally are immature, disrespectful kids on a short fuse. It's embarrassing to read and your fav fictional cartoon character is negatively rubbing off on you.

Can we all just talk calmly and talk about the dumb anime please

And no, I don't like Naruto all that much either. It's a manga. Not a sports team or a religion.

Constant shifts and unpredictability (there are more) are two of the few main reasons that add dynamism to the character. Sasuke has those two in spades. In fact that is what is the main gauge of all main literary critics.

I am not trying to change your mind. I am just telling you that how well-written in Literature is measured.

OP has been trolling constantly. You have missed it, numbers. May be that's why so many are edgy at the moment.
