People tried to embarrass/humiliate Obito as a characters by saying he get Friend-zoned was the reason he start the war when that not the reason.

He is a good character,but kishi didn't write him good enough. He could've been as cool as other uchihas PR even better,but kishi made him look like an idiot.
His role is so cool,because we thought he was dead,but he actually survived,and was going back when he saw his love is being killed right in from of him by his best friend and a peace loving boy turns to be one of the world's biggest enemies.
I really like his story,that how deep uchiha's love is and how it can change people.
But talk no jutsu and him being over obsessed with rin(they showed his love for her in the worst way possible! ) really destroyed him.
I even was his fan as tobi,but war arc just destroyed everyone.

Tobi should've been Tobidara because that would've been alot of complexity as a villain rather than Obito who twisted his anger toward the humanity all because you let rin die...
Anyway it shouldn't be debatable that obito is one of the worst villain character in fictional story but seeing how many people defend this character is pitfall.

I will give this a pass. Obito's reason for turning to darkness was without a doubt the weakest in the series, even if you use the Uchiha love excuse. They could have fleshed out the reasons for y Obito had no faith in the world, maybe have him expound on how he has seen the cycle at work and how it is inevitable the ppl's loved one would die...

But that would have made him too much like Nagato and Madara so it seems like Obito had no choice, but to turn out as bad as he did

I think you look at it wrong. Rin never friend-zoned Obito. He start the war bcus he saw Rin died at the hand of Kakashi and time over time realized that it not only bcus Rin get killed by Kakashi but other involvements(other country/government) that lead to the murder situation.
