Kakuzu (albeit a highly weakened one) and fought semi-successfully against the Gedo Mazou.

Gaara wins but it's gonna be mid-diff due to the location, and normally high diff.

idk, they probably think the sand from the desert will be enough to swallow and trap choji. gaara should be fast enough to react or sub out of choji's rampage. the question now is, can gaara's sand armor (not the body version) can withstand the impact from choji

I think sand shield might be what you're looking for. Gaara never gets hit.

solo'ed one of the sound 4 with one hit, asuma like you said, gold bros (v2 cloak form) and gedo mazo.

edit: can't remember if he punched kakuzu but @tarinth said he was easily defeated by choji.
