Let me start by saying what I saw I really enjoyed but now I'm not sure what I saw. I watched the series on Ntflix, they have 1 13 episode season. I looked the show up and it says it's supposed to be 2 26 episode seasons. So I went to kiss to watch them, I left off on ep.13 where Yura is recaping the story so I click 13 on Kiss jut to be safe(good thing) and up comes an entirely different opening then the series on Netflix and the episode isn't anything like I remember on Netflix. Does anyone know what the deal is? Did Netflix cut out material to streamline the show? Watching ep 1 now it's completely different from Netflix's ep. 1

I had the same issue when I started watching the show. Found it on Netflix, started watching, fell in love, discovered that there was more on Hulu. Only, what I thought was season 1 on Netflix is actually season 2. Hulu has the entire show, from beginning to end, in order. Can you explain the episode that you're watching, like how it starts? Both seasons have mid-season finales where the arcs from the first half of the season is summed up. The episodes after these begin new arcs.

I think I've got it, or at least that's what I'm telling myself lol. I'm watching ep. 2 now of just Nura:Rise of the Yokai(hereon refered to as Nura), I've seen up to 13 of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Demon Capital(hereon referred to as DC or Demon Capital). Ep1 of Demon Capital started with Riku being 8 and playing a prank on Aotaba and them but ep 1 of Nura started with him and Gyuuki in a cabin(I imagine a foreshadowing of a later scene)

It's weird though because it seems like the two shouldn't match up but people keep calling it a second season. The floating head guy has a different color outfit(though just slightly) and Gyuuki doesn't look like a lizard thing in Nura(yet) Also if DC is season 2 why is he younger? I think DC may be a retelling not sure yet, will know better when I've finished Nura. Though I did notice flashbacks of them fighting together in DC of moments I never saw happen so maybe they'll happen in Nura idk yet.

Gotta say though, so far DC was more enjoyable for me. How about you? Also Hulu only has all 26 episodes of Nura from what I've seen do they have the 26 episodes from DC as well?

Yeah, what you see in the 1st episode of DC is a flashback that sets up what happens later in the season. It threw me off for a bit too, but the episodes start coming together more later on. I don't think Hulu has all of DC yet. Though, I don't think all of DC has aired or at least been released in America. Rest assured, DC is not a retelling but is another season just starting on a bigger arc.

Likewise, the scene you're referring to in Nura is indeed a foreshadowing of a later scene. That's pretty much the anime's ploy. I think DC becomes a tad more intense, but I did thoroughly enjoy Nura. There was a lot that I felt I missed having watched DC first and Nura filled in those holes.

Last time I checked, Hulu has all the episodes on there. Although, I do have HuluPlus so I don't know if that might make a difference...?

Yeah I've gotten to ep 7 or 8 on Nura now, it's still weird if DC is a second season(which it does seem to be since it includes Zen who was an out of nowhere character when watching DC first) but at the same time Yura is a semi friend in DC, which is set earlier than Nura, but in Nura at 12 she's a transfer student and suspicious of Rikuo? That's weird. Nura's been alright so far, it's amazing how different they feel tonally though. Also does Gyuuki become the lizard-y thing he was in DC at some point in Nura(nevermind, figured out I was confusing him with gagoze or whatever his name was)? Also why is he still aound in DC if this ish happens in Nura? Rrrgh so confusing this early in the morning.

I saw someone else describe it as DC is to Nura as Brotherhood is to Full Metal. But tbh I din't know wht Brotherhood is to FMA either is it a continuation or a retelling? I've heard it's more of a retelling.

DC is set after Nura. I do understand the confusion though. That flashback makes it seem like he is 8 in DC, but he is really 12 like as in Nura. You'll see the friendship develop with Yura as you watch Nura, since she is also an out of nowhere character in DC. I think the tonal feel has a lot to do with the plot. In Nura, as I'm sure you're aware by now, Rikuo doesn't want to be the third heir anymore. That significantly changes between Nura and DC. I'm a bit confused. Are you talking about Gagoze or Gyuki still being around? If it's Gyuki, then you'll find out as you watch since Rikuo explains it.

Brotherhood is more a retelling. But I would definitely not consider that the case with DC and Nura. I think a lot of that comes from people potentially seeing DC first because of it being on Netflix.
