Since there's been alot of news lately focusing on refugees and immigrants and several threads for them, I thought maybe it's time to make one single thread (this) for them all.
So in this thread you can discuss both the positive and the negative effects of immigration and the refugee crisis on society. Please keep it civil.

I'll start by saying that, I'm Finnish, and during the time of last fall till December 2015 (4 months) Finland accepted 32 000 asylym seekers. Most of them from Iraq, Somalia and Afghanistan. The Finnish police just recently provided statistics for last year that concluded that:

-the rape crimes done by foreigners have risen 20%
-sexual crimes in the whole country +2,6%.
-926 refugees were suspected of a crime. That's 2,8% of ALL the refugees.
-Assault and battery crimes done by foreigners +24%

And all this just during 4 months. These numbers seem fairly high for people supposedly fleeing the terrors of war?

Add to that our President gave a speech last week in which he said that "migrants are threatening Western values and many are not fleeing danger but just looking for an easier life "

So our president agrees with what I've been saying for the last 2 months so I guess he is a racist also lol.
Also like the article above states Finland will reject 20 000 of 32 000 asylum claims from last year. That should tell everyone something about the reasons these for these "refugees" coming for Finland.

These types of threads alway end up in flames. (But you already knew that didn't you) Nonetheless, I appreciate the attempt.

OT: immigration is never an easy thing for any country. It's easy to say the government's dropping the ball on policing them when they have are hard enough time policing its own citizens. When granting a good number of foreigners into a country you risk letting in such offenders. But try to remember things like rape and crime existed in every country before immigrants migrated to any particular country. To simply point fingers at them as if natural born citizens of any country are above these sorts of things is hypocritical.

Not saying it isn't an issue (it is) but recognize our own failings before lynching an entire culture for thing that go on in every country is all I'm getting at.

Finish people vote for these politicians, the blame rests with them as well. The illegal immigrants, the government and the people that vote are at fault here.

So native citizens having criminals of their own makes the refugees immune for criticism? I don't see the logic in taking millions of young men (most of the current refugees are men of ages 18-40) from a culture who's representatives make relatively more of those crimes than the European natives?

This migrant crisis is happening right now and muslims are commiting rapes 20 times more than natives and you want us to focus on our problems first? Don't you think it should be the other way around? We already have criminals of our own, we don't need more of them.

Implying immigration threads get deleted due to rule breaking.

Idk exactly why, but so far 3(maybe more) immigration threads got trashed, and all seem to face the same fate, as soon as people start to lose debates some muslim members start reporting them, in last second thread one reported it and then pretended like it was destined, mods are to be blamed too, they play safe and trash threads instead of deleting posts banning members, mostly I think cause the material doesn't seem family friendly to them.

That post wasn't directed at you, criticizing your op.

The two men were talking in a language that I'm not familiar with, while the two women spoke english with each other. One of the women complained about the fact that they have to live in a camp of tents, instead of having a house.. and complained about not getting a car for free. My mother, who was in the hospital in the next town today, also told me that she heared members of the staff talking about how the refugees in this town rejected and sent back the food, which they got from the hospital.. without even opening it in the first place.

What the fuq? I was shocked by this ungratefulness.
I don't want to spread hate and don't want to say that everyone is like them. It's just the way it is, where I live.

That's what rustles my jimmies the most. The fact that they are so ungrateful and that they think should be served like kings. lmao. And at the same time most of them despise western culture.

Hawker if your president is sincere and follows that intent then you Finns are lucky folk indeed - but I suspect that it is just lip-service (even Merkel was going on about how 'multiculturalism had failed' just a few years ago).

If these leeches called politicians cared about the opinions of their own people, none of this would be happening in the first place. If they cared about evidence-based approaches to immigration policy (and policy in general, for that matter), none of this would be happening in the first place.

Really the only thing these 'people' care about is keeping the gravy-train that is politics running and running. I've been to hospital quite a few times...or at least more times than someone of my age should have...and one time, after a few weeks I also stopped eating the food given in the hospital. First I just refused the soup- it was literally the same unrecognizable mess every single day, for months. Then the main dish was inedible sometimes too. My body simply refused it, I couldn't swallow it anymore. Not to mention that breakfast and supper for 90% of the time consisted of bread, butter, and either jam or the cheapest type of pork sausages.

I was not the only one to complain about it either- a fellow for example once told the doctors that the food is crap: he was told in reply that it's enough for him not to die of hunger, so he should deal with it. He was not lucky enough though to have relatives and friends to take home made food for him.

Now of course it depends on the hospital and the person as well. Hospitals in the capital are somewhat better financed, and I enjoyed the food there quite much. In my home city, however, there were cocroaches in some rooms *shrug*
And if someone is poor and used to eating crap, the person probably won't have a problem with hospital food either (f.e the beggars I met there), but if someone is used to eating quality dishes, said person's stomach will be less likely to digest such food.
