water are a sort of source in real life
they be use in offensive / defensive

offensive : offensive jutsu like water dragon bullet / shock wave.
can drown opponent to death or even crush them down

defensive : they can create a wall of water to block opponent attacks
and also can trap opponent in water and make them unable to move.

water is strong against fire
water is weak against earth

water can combine with wind
water can also combine in lighting too
