I'm currently writing a story revolving around an ambitious young man who is confronted by an older gentleman who offers the other a gift.
The gift is one of the legendary Fruit of Eden, the older man says. He also states the rules and reasoning for him giving this gift which I'll quickly shorten up for your sakes;
The Earth is a shitty place. Terrorism, hate, injustice, death, and disease all rule supreme over the planet. By accepting and eating this fruit, you will gain an ability, one that you will not know until you have it, but it will be capable of making great change in the world.
The catch is, if you choose to eat this fruit, while you may gain unimaginable abilities, you will also be damned to hell for eternity.
My question is, what would you do and why?
