I wanted people to say so whether or not they believed in an afterlife, that's all. I didn't want to say that in the post or people would try and debate me about God.

In cases like these you're presenting a hypothetical scenario whose rules you determine.

You worded it in a way in wich if you choose the fruit you will be damned to hell.

No question regarding one's personal beliefs.

The catch is, if you choose to eat this fruit, while you may gain unimaginable abilities, you will also be damned to hell for eternity.

I'll be the odd ball and take the fruit. I'd be willing to sacrifice myself to hell in exchange for destroying all the terrorism, hate, injustice, death, and disease in the world. Strange as it sounds, giving one mortal life to the devil in exchange for the sake of bringing humanity closer to heaven while sending me closer to hell is a bad misfortune but ultimately it was worth the enormous gains. In a poetic sense, I'm also distancing myself from this horrible humanity too.

I'd take it.
I mean, I don't think there is any afterlife or hell or whatever.
And even if I had to spend eternity in hell, so what? My own life is not more precious than the lives of billions of people. I made the world a much better place for billions of people.. I would be dumb and selfish as hell (haha) if I refused to take it.

But I would want to never be known for what I did. Because then people start to worship me as a new Jesus or whatever which would cause conflicts eventually.

Ludicrous, great answer <3

Well destroying all of those things would either mean destroying mankind or suppressing free will.

The whole notion that some power can create a utopia and call itself righteous is a farce, especially if it is presented by the Devil (who is supposed to be a master deceiver and tempter).

The only power that can end war and injustice is the will of mankind. So in the end, taking the fruit and selling your soul will be all for naught.

Eat the Fruit, snap my fingers, and erase Hell. Or give myself immortality. Or make myself the King of Hell

Edit: Nvm, I misread this.

Basically temporary pleasure for eternal damnation? No but then again, I'm not much of a decision maker.

That's easy to say when you're not burning in fire for eternity. Also, I don't think OP specified the power.

Well we all know there isn't an after life, so i'll take the fruit (Which i'm imagining is the Gura Gura No Mi)
By that logic, your answer should be no, because we all know a magic fruit doesn't exist.

In the end, would it even matter how I achieve it? Humanity has shown that in the hundreds of thousands of years of our existence we cannot live without something like fear of laws, religion or society to keep us in place. Fear is a primal instinct and why its the most effective way to a false peace as bad as it sounds but nevertheless peace.

Every major religion has a concept that you can redeem yourself in hell if you truly weren't a bad person and if someone in heaven really wanted you in heaven. I'm sure God's understanding of this would outweigh Satan's condemnation of me to hell. Hopefully

So if someone arrived in the guise of a savior and was going to reprogram you to live a certain way, would you be ok with that?

Life has no meaning when you cannot choose; you might as well be a robot. So yes, it does matter.

Just like how you grow up and mature, there's a point in time when you have to start making your own choices.

The beauty of the human spirit is our will to dream, not suppress it.

The fruit to my understanding grants the person immortality so rather have hell on earth then die and have heaven

I'd rather let Dean and Sammy defeat Lucifer and save the world.

Shoutout to all the Supernatural buffs :bdpf:

I wouldn't take it. I believe in something and don't want to go to hell.

Yeah, I wouldn't be fixing the world. That's not good of me, I know, but the world has always had evil in it and after peace is achieved, it'll happen again. Just takes one bad egg.

Not eat the fruit. Life can be changed with struggle, will and good actions, no need to a fruit who makes me walk an "easy road", specially if this road, as you say, takes to Hell

What is hell like in your book?

As for the thread, I think correct answer is obvious: don't eat the fruit.

1) Just because you don't have the power of the fruit doesn't mean you can't gain the ability to change the world and make it a better place

2) A finite existence of suffering for all the beings that will ever live on earth is incomparably smaller than an infinite existence of suffering for a single being for all eternity.

This is a hard one. Oh wait, it isn't. Live my current life which is fine and have the knowledge of an afterlife or have fun for a while and suffer for eternity? :|

Too bad hell is real as that fruit of yours.
