From what I see in the manga, everyone was brought back at the state they were in when they died.

I can't name one person that was brought back different then the way they looked when they died.

Supposedly Madara was brought back in his prime form, but that shouldn't be possible since

A: When his soul left his body, it was in the form of the Madara's body, which was a feeble old man. So even his Kabuto retrieved his soul and attached it to a body, he would always come out an old man. I don't think Kabuto has the ability to alter the appearance of a soul, and even if he did, why would he? If Madara was brought back in the form of an Old Man with edo tensei, wouldn't he still be capable of everything he was was in his more youthful state? Or would and old man Madara be more physically restraint because he's less fit?

B: Madara awakened Rinnegan when he was older, didn't he? Or did he just wake up from Izanagi with the rinnegan. No, I think he set izanagi to awaken a long time after his death, so he was old when he was revived? Either way, wouldn't his old man form be the real prime and not his youthful form? Because is he did awaken rinnegan while he was old, that would be his prime state, not the youthful version

I'm just confused, explain this to me. Maybe i'm over thinking things

Go on children, discuss :sdo:

Madara was a special Edo Tensei because of Kabuto's modification.

Revived in his prime.
He awakened him in his prime as stated by Kabuto.

If he awakened Rinnegan while he was an old man (which can be assumed by manga facts) then that means that his prime was as an old man, not as a youth. When he awakened Rinnegan, he was at his peak. When he awakened Rinnegan, he was old. So if he were revived in his prime, it would be old Madara, not young. Even if young madara was his prime, that doesn't subside the fact that his soul left his body when he was old, and so when his soul was attached to a body for Edo Tensei, he should have been revived old.

He was a special edo tensei in the sense that his capabilities were enhanced in comparison to when he was at his prime. This has nothing to do with his physical appearance. As I said, when Madara's soul left it's body (when he died) he was an old man. So when the soul was reattached, he should have been revived in his old form. All the other Edo Tensei are perfect proof, because they show that they were revived in the physical state they were in when they died (even Nagato was crippled as an edo tensei) because their souls take the form of their current physical manifestation. When they were revived with edo tensei, their souls which memorizes their last physical appearance, reshapes the body into as the soul last remembers their host looking like. In Madara's case, it should have been an old man, special or not. Only through absorbing a massive amount of bijuu-level chakra was Nagato able to reverse his age, bringing life back into his hair and skin ext. So if Kabuto did this for Madara, where did he get such a massive amount of bijuu level chakra from.

Naa, old Madara with Rinnegan is not the prime. His body was weak and would be very restricted, physically, like Nagato was. So Kabuto changed the state of the body and made Madara young and strong again, which was his physical prime. This body + Rinnegan = better than the prime.
But there is no explanation how Kabuto made his case so special.

First of all, that scan shows Madara with a rinnegan in "old age", not young, is that's what you're gettin at.

Also, refer to my two posts above.

Yes, I wanted to answer your question in your opening post with mangascans. Madara didn't get the Rinnegan after coming back to life with Izanagi, he had to become an old man, before the Rinnegan developed.

And no, him being "special" has nothing to do with his strength. In fact, Edo-Madara didn't possess the same strength/power as prime-Madara, which Hashirama himself confirmed. Look at the bottom of the scan.

That's why Madara was even more powerful after Obitos "Rinne Tensei". Edo-Zombies never have the same strength as the living counterpart. All they have is instant chakra-recovery as well as body-recovery.
Kabuto referred to the young appearance when he called Madara "special", together with the Rinnegan that Madara neither had when he was young, nor when he died.

He simply took the best two parts of Madara and fused them together.
The strong, young body of prime-Madara.
The Rinnegan from grandpa Madara.
We don't know how he did that and never will. It's just how Kishimoto wanted his story to be, nothing more, nothing less. You overthink this. :p

Kabuto combined two points in Madara's lifetime in order to have the physical appearance of his young self and the chakra of his old self. If your looking for technicality, it's impossible because it was never explained.

You can't simply do that with Edo Tensei, or chakra in general. If that were the case, he would have made a lot of other people who were in there Old Man edo tensei form, young. If Kabuto really wanted to revive Madara young because his physical capabilities would allow him to excel in battle, then he would have done so for many others.

Granny Chiyo came in her old form, all hobbling like an old lady.

The 3rd Raikage was revived old and wrinkly.

Nagato was revived all old looking.

Altering their physical state to make them younger and more physically fit would have benefited them just as much as it would Madara.

And there theirs what I said above. The soul takes the form of a hosts current physical appearance, so if the soul leaves the body then it is permenantly stuck in that physical appearance, which is why everyone who was revived with Edo Tensei came back looking exactly as they did when they died. It isn't at all possible to mold the physical apperance of a soul to your liking, so therefore if Madara died an old man and his soul was in the form of an old man, than when his soul was attached to a body for edo tensei, then he should have been revived with the physical appearance of his old man state.

That still doesn't add up to how it was possible for Kabuto to alter his physical appearance. Everyone is brought back the way they were when they died, Nagato, Chiyo, ext. This should have been the case for Madara.

I never serious with my answer to begin with. It bcus I'm not in the mood for serious/proper discussion.

It just meant for sarcasm but apparently you failed to see it.
