Not taking any cc2 game or anime nonsense into the equation, just the manga itself. it was stated that when two of the same dojutsus are put together that it you can use it's full potential or something like that. however for some reason when obito and sasuke had their one-rinnegan eye, they barely used any jutsus. now granted madara barely used it as well but that's more to do with madara having better jutsus, toying with the gokages and just for the sheer op factor that madara is beast without depending on it. anyways, when sasuke used his rinnegan, he used the chakra absorbing ability but no shinra tensei, so i can assume that he needs the left eye in order to use the gravity stuff.
so i went back into looking in chapters and i noticed certain frames of nagato and madara's eyes being zoomed in the precise moment they used their jutsus. in nagato's (6pains) just about most of them that weren't focused on both eyes, all zoomed into his right eye when he used shinra tensei, and when madara used his chakra absorb, it was in his left eye (like sasuke's). This is a very weak theory that is most likely just coincidence or kishi is actually skilled at foreshadowing. regardless the case, i'm making it just cause someone else smarter might be able to make more out of it.
just bothers me how dangerous the momoshiki were in the movie and shin in the gaiden arc but sasuke didn't even try to shinra tensei or something. you'd think he would at least once. it's not like momo can absorb gravity force
