I'm currently regaining my composure, but I guess a little rant here wouldn't be that bad.

I had just came back from comforting my dear aunt along with my fiancee, she was having trouble with her abusive husband. While I felt so angry at her for being so meek to even file a divorce, I realised that she was now to an extent of needing outsider's help and support, so me and my girl decided to give her a hand to get her out of that.

On another different case, happened a few days prior, my female classmate cried in front of me due to her boyfriend's gang kept calling her a hoe. Turned out her boyfriend as well had always been underestimating her in everything she did and felt overly superior than her. I was about to call her stupid for still being in a relationship with such an A-word, but thinking that she was my classmate so I put some pressure on her boyfriend along with several other classmates whom knew the guy till they broke up. I know it isn't my problem anyway but any gentleman couldn't ignore a lady's tears  Besides, she's my friend.

The point of these incidents is, many men still treat women as some kinda tool to be used time and again, been downplayed to some sort of marketable commodity too. I couldn't pinpoint to a reasonable conclusion as to why these kinda people see women as materials instead of human beings. Even if we are indeed superior than girls in most cases (no offense, really, it's a figure of speech), yet it is not an assent to be disrespect to them either. I always thought the fact that my hands are way bigger than my sister's, my mother's, and my fiancee's, is because I could hold theirs within my grips, protecting and assuring them to safety, no less if I tend to become even stronger than the current me.

During ancient times upon humanity started to grow, women weren't humans in the eyes of people, they were seen as nuisance and weak. In addition, there was a rule that if a daughter was born, she must be immediately buried alive since it would bring bad luck to keep her. Although some were allowed to live, they were forced to lead a life as prostitutes. Hence, bad luck (for downgrading family's name) and nuisance. Some weren't permitted to get out of the house.

Are we reverting back in times instead of advancing and revolutionizing ahead? I'm sad thinking for my future daughter would be living in such unhappy world.

Yes, mankind is, in a way, reverting back into "ancient" society-structures.
Stupidity and ignorance are rising again, while a lot of people lose their minds and wage war against each other. Most of the people seem to have learned NOTHING from the bloody, inhumane past of mankind and that makes me sick.

And I don't want to be sexist, but most of the very big problems are caused by men.
Women are not innocent by default and a lot of us make bad decisions too, but men are a lot worse. Is it the ego? their hormones? I don't know why they fuq up so much.

Which ancient times? Because there were a lot of ancient cultures which had great respect for women.

Which society? Because not all nations treat women the same.

U.S. has given equal rights to women and it is expected to treat women fairly.

The fact that there is abuse is something that will always exist in both genders in any society. That doesn't mean it is accepted or the norm of our culture.

So no we're not reverting back to anything.

And if there's anyone to blame about objectifying women, blame people like Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian and the people that idolize them.

I agree with the first part but let me tell you something.

Criticizing men for all the problems of earth is unfair because they are the ones in command so if anyone is to **** up, it's them. If there were no women on earth men would very possibly live peacefully with each other. In my opinion, most problematic behaviors of men have a woman as a cause. Whether she influences him this way or the other, a man goes out of his way for a woman in general.

Also, before you blame men for how much they have ****ed up repeatedly while they are in command just imagine for a moment women being in command. Chaos would be an optimistic expectation.

Don't get me wrong, I love women and I deeply respect them. Actually I respect the average woman more than the average man. But the thing is, every woman just wants to have it her own way and that leads to problems. Also, they usually influence men in a negative way because again, they want to have it their way.

Some areas, the rules present in society haven't changed over the years and are heavily dictated by strict regulations, so women are still seen as property. Here's an example of a tracking system being implemented in one country so that men can be notified of any time their wife leaves the house:

^That was an extreme example.

The examples you gave regarding those close to you are pretty mild by comparison but still important in their own right. In the cases you mentioned (and I don't mean to sound insensitive, I'm a girl myself), it seems like they're seen as material objects because they allow themselves to be.

Her husband was abusive but she was too afraid to even say she would consider divorce when it's an option? I don't know the extent of her misery with this man, but some people are just not worth sticking around with.

She was crying over her boyfriend? She can move on and find someone better. She needs to realize there are better people out there. What makes him so special that she needs to cry over him? Why even talk to someone who puts her down and what does she see in him? Bad boys are glorified in media wrongly, they're trash in real life. Whatever his positive qualities are, she can likely find them in another guy who doesn't put her down. It'll take time for her to get over him, but she'll be fine. You mentioned they broke up, she'll find a nice guy sooner or later. There are many fish in the sea.

People need to stop waiting for others to "get better" and "change" and just go with people who have similar interests /thought processes as they do. People that are kind to them. Things will become much happier for them when they'll do that.

Heres the thing...People treat other people like tools. Its the selfish nature of humans. To end oppression like this you'd have to stop showing it in the light that you are..You are putting women up too high on the shelf. While the incident you described is awful it truly is it is not uncommon. Many domestic violences are reported but many are not reported. The many that are not are women abusing their husbands. We must make a conscious effort to end violence like this as a whole. Criticizing men for the majority of the womens problems is completely unfair. No one gender is better than another we are the same in value. But we are different in strengths...so in that respect we are not equal.

I never meant that men are the cause of all the problems. And not all men are bad, there are a lot good ones, but at least the same amount of bad examples. When I look at the news, I only see dumb men beating/shooting each other or blowing up themselves in syria and other countries.

And I don't think that women are responsible for that.
No matter what a women did to them in their lives, nothing would lead to such actions if the person has a healthy brain.

That's a whole load of crap. Yes, there were societies that treated women badly but guess what, there still are societies like that.

There were also very ancient societies that respected women and some of them even more than men. In ancient Crete for example their goddess was a woman (because the woman's body would symbolize birth and fertility) and women were deeply respected. We are talking thousands of years BC now.
In ancient Sparta, many hundreds of years later women had equal rights to men.
(by the way, in the democratic my ass ancient Athens women were not allowed to walk without the company of a man, except prostitutes, and guess what, the prostitutes were treated with respect, even the king had married one)

Ever hear of infotainment? The media only covers stories which can acquire the most views, hence generating the most profit. It's a recent development, something like less than 30 years back when media outlets started telling the employees to not just find news but also make it entertaining.

So that's why you see dumb men blowing themselves up a lot.

That doesn't mean cases of violence from females or female serial killers don't exist. There are plenty, it's just not covered as much.

if women want equality they have to take the problems men go through, one of those problems is being disrespected.

No you don't understand. I am not saying the women are the ones to blame either. I am not saying that said men are healthy or unhealthy or whatever.
I am saying most of the times, the motive for a man's actions that one would criticize is a woman. Dumb huh? It isn't though.

Say a man does something unjust to acquire more money than he already has. Why would he do that? To have more possessions? What does he need those for you think? To attract more women. That's the stupid way most men work, you can't do anything about that. It's been like this since people lived in the caves :p

Say a man does unjust things to gain more power than he already has. Why would he do that? To be above other males? Why, what good that would do to him? Oh wait, he would attract more women that way!

See, people, deep down are programmed like animals and the male animal's primary goal is to attract the females. Simple.

Real questions are, how has your opinion changed compared to what you believe to be "ancient times." and why exactly do you keep going back to a damsel in distress troupe? People are people, male or female we do things to further our own self interests whether it be staying with someone we don't actually love for our own perceived lack of a better secondary scenario or break up a relationship because you feel you know what's best. Honestly what gave you the right to intervene in your friend's relationship? You took someone else's situation into your hands, you didn't discuss it with her or help her work through her stuff you broke her and her bf up to further your own morals. You did what you thought was right and what would make you feel justified. Judging people is easy, we all do it everyday. Most of this thread is full of it, but as I've said before when it comes down to it people are people we all do things for ourselves to make ourselves feel better, superior to someone else or even useful.

You do it a lot, you felt like you were better than that "a-hole" that girl was with so you took it upon yourself to break them up, you also think she's stupid for being with him. You at least at the time took it upon yourself to change her situation making it seem as though you valued your opinion about what was right and wrong more than hers almost like you knew what was best for her and she didn't have the right to choose. Then again, if you put the right words around anything it can be twisted pretty easily.

I never meant that men are the cause of all the problems. And not all men are bad, there are a lot good ones, but at least the same amount of bad examples. When I look at the news, I only see dumb men beating/shooting each other or blowing up themselves in syria and other countries.

When you turn on the news you see what catches the eye. Which is usually whoever killed someone else that day, or some other kind of atrocity. Women are just as responsible for bad things that happen in the world as men, or are you saying women can't kill, abuse or be violent? There are several statistics that can prove that wrong if you need them. I could get them if you don't want to take my word for it. Anyway to the second part, I'm a bit lost on what you mean? Are you saying bad parenting on a mother's part can't lead to a bad person when they grow up? You make it seem as though the bad a woman can do will never be comparable to the bad a man can do. If a mother mentally or physically abuses their child can't that produce a dysfunctional adult be it male or female? If a male child is raised to believe he's useless, broken or a bad person couldn't that break him as a person just as much as it could a female child? Obviously it could. Though at that point this has become a discussion on nature vs nurture.

they want to have it their way.

Welp lost track of my thoughts and ended up thinking of that Burger King ad.
