Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren and the First Order. Err... Let's get to the theme- This week's theme is "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", also known as Star Wars episode VII.

Bonus Award: The winner can have two light-sabers in their name for a month, along with the usual awards for this week's contest, if they wish. May the force with you!!

Why is #6 on the voting thread? It's just a resized wallpaper. Isn't this considered "stealing other people's work"?
1,2 and 4 were the most descent.

Signatures/tags are most of the time creations made from other people's work. Rare are examples when it's not like that. GFX is based on that. But GFX is not based on stealing other people's work and presenting it as yours, it is based on taking other people's work, giving them credits for their part of work (*this is why you will notice that at any larger GFX forum it is necessary to give credits for the materials used for the tag submitted (usually just focal)) and manipulating with those works to create something new. Photomanipulation, in this sense, is very organized. You have range of different type of artists who are producing material which sole pupose is to be taken and manipulated by GFXers.

So, if this was serious GFX competition, you would have to attach the render used for your submission together with the actual submission. But, since this is not serious GFX competition you have submissions like submission #6 (*the artist of the work is Doug Chiang) where the person just resized the original work and sumbitted it as his/hers or in other words, stole the work. And I don't see problem with that here in this perticular competition. Why?

Here's why: Look at "signatures" or if you will, avatars of the people on NB... Yeah, most of them are just cropped, resized pictures. So, if you define signature from that perspective I don't see any problem with submission #6.

But, one thing to be clear, this is not GFXing cometition and this has nothing to do with GFXing.

OT: Submission #4 is a work of an artist Çağlayan Göksoy, and I am really fan of his work on DA, so gonna go with that. xD

People really need to stop complaining about the submissions.
I dont think people realise that most people steal things from others all the time, the creations came from other people and us GFXers use their work to create our own work.

It doesnt matter if someone resizes a picture or not, if you dont like it then post your own thread complaining about it but this is a comp that people can do that if they want because people will catch them out and not vote for it like they have done, anyways it is easy to tell if someone has created their own signature or not.


Voting for #1 as it reminds me of some of the signatures i used to make back in the day, it is a simple design but looks great at the same time, could have done with a cute text but ohwell.
#2 was well done too

The submissions must be self made, so no stealing other's people's work

That's one of the rules of the SoTW
