Sasuke is not Indra. Sasuke being angry about something personal will not lead to his spirit transcending death to inhabit a new host to carry out his subconscious wishes.

What is the next transmigrant going to do? Be mad that 80 years ago Sarada died? Ok. Now what?

True.

Naruto sure didn't seem to understand that one when launching his final attacks. He had no idea whether he would destroy Sasuke's eye or not in that final bout.

At least Sasuke knew that he had the Bijuu on lock if Naruto was killed. Haha

True if sasuke had been obliterated there would be no way for them to undo it.

You're right. Sasuke just learned about how his clan was dooped from the fkin beginning and he still tries to pull that evil shit. Also, that fight was the most randomest thing I've ever seen. Big ass Rasenshuriken and Gigantic Exo-Chidori. Smh

I agree.
The fight was pointless, rushed and poorly executed.

1. The fight did stop the "cycle of hatred" temporarily. Sasuke was the one perpetuating it, not Naruto. It doesn't make sense to say that "they" perpetuated the cycle of hatred when Sasuke is the one who wanted to kill Naruto. The point was not "to see who's stronger." Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto because he was the only one who could stand in his way. Naruto wanted to change Sasuke's mind. They were long past the superficial motivation of trying to one-up each other. This was a clash of beliefs.

2. I agree Hagoromo's gifts were unbalanced.

3. No, Itachi would not have been able to talk Sasuke out of anything. In fact it was Itachi himself that said Naruto must be the one to change Sasuke. Even after talking and cuddling with Itachi's Edo his tendency to lean towards hatred as a solution for everything remained intact.

4. It wasn't to decide the Hokage. Sasuke was going to forcefully become Hokage if he had killed Naruto. You think he was going to kill Naruto and then sit and wait patiently with his fingers crossed while the feudal lords and village elders selected the next Hokage? No. He was going to become supreme ruler and he was going to make everyone hate him. And anyway, what are you talking about? He didn't kill the last 2 Hokage. Danzo was not inaugurated, but even if you count him as 1, Sasuke didn't kill Tsunade. He also didn't kill Gaara, Mei, A, or Onoki... he just attacked them.

I do agree with some other users that the fight was very rushed and could have been executed better. It was unreasonable... Naruto had been fighting and running around for what, 48 hours at that point? They should have been exhausted. I guess chakra isn't a thing when you have Rikudo powers, but what about muscular and mental fatigue? For crying out loud.

I agree that there could have been many better ways to end the story.

But this was the ending that Kishi said he had envisioned many years before (the scenes with the sign of reconciliation, the return of the hitai ate), and the final fight set the stage for that.

Plus we never really knew what Sasuke was thinking/feeling during the whole story, and the fight also set the stage for that.

Sasuke was the one who wanted to fight. Naruto outmatched and beat him. He truly is the one who needed to be Hokage.

IMO it also wasn't needed because even if we accept the words of the author and agree that Sasuke's idea of maintaining peace was wrong, and then he agreed to follow Naruto's idea, which is ... what, exactly? I don't quite understand what is Naruto's idea of peace. He basically just wants to keep things as they were, thus accepting the inevitability of the upcoming wars, conflicts, pain and basically the continuation of the cycle of hatred. I find it very unrealistic and hard to believe that everyone in NV just suddenly decided like 'YAY, LET'S ALL LIVE PEACEFULLY AND HAVE MASS ORGIES EVERY NOW AND THEN CUZ NARUTO IS THE HOKAGE AT LAST!!". Long story short, Sasuke wanted to change the corrupted system, while Naruto decided to leave it as it is, but suddenly we see that the world has changed... just because. It's one of my main disappointments in this manga.

You miss the point then, true peace can't be forced through some self imposed system, that would cause more hate, anger, suffering and oppression. It has to come gradually through everyone accepting one another, Naruto knew that. When you're justly angry at someone, you are exercising a free will you've been privileged to have to be angry at them, so would someone coming along and taking that right from you make you any happier with that person? Of course there will always be problems, and disagreements between mankind, in the World of Naruto even before chakra, ninjutsu, bijuu there was fighting and wars.

History has even proven in the real world with power hungry dictators instilling their own, twisted false system of fear and intimidation causing oppression and suffering, never really eradicated hatred or introduced peace. It was just suffocation.

Naruto's way to peace is the theme of the manga, cooperation. Pratically all the 5 nations came together and realized how valuable they were as one unit rather than separate, plus after the war, no one is trying fight anymore which is understandable after a genocidal war that nearly wiped the planet.

Can you claim that it was Naruto's ideology that caused the alliance form? That is literally Sasuke's mentality, only with Obito instead of Sasuke. They only allied because they had a common enemy.

Not pointless. It showed why Naruto and Sasuke are not equals.

It was definitely not pointless.

Sasuke would have taken over the world had he won that battle. That is essentially what his revolution boiled down to. If Naruto had died there would have been nobody on Earth that was capable of stopping Sasuke. In short, this wasn't just a fan service battle. It was a battle for the fate of the world.

The fact that they started cooperating together, something which not a single generation of reincarnations before them were able to do, is the sole proof that the cycle ended. The rest is more or less irrelevant.

they needed to clash and settle things once and for all, the manga was leading up to that so any which way it would have happened. there were hints that sasuke still harboured some harsh ideas of his own when he arrived at the battleground, that needed to be cleared up in order to finally settle his character. a clash of ideologies per se

also personally for me in terms of power i needed to see more feats from sasuke after his not so cool performance against kaguya. rinnegan genjutsu, coreless ct, ps chidori, and of course bijju ps were very much welcome so it wasnt pointless. though the fight could have been executed much better

And Naruto stated during Shippuden that the only way these two could understand each other is through fists.
