He even makes the reference to Naruto and it made his decision to kill the clan with that duplicitous, nationalistic runt easier. Rin was the only thing that mattered in his life. Her death, and the circumstances surrounding it, became a trigger and a catalyst for him. He finally understood the fragility of ninja life in the black-politics of the villages and sought to change the system.

Obito's motivations simply became laughable the second he started listening to Naruto's and Kakashi's half-backed, kindergarten speeches laced with the philosophies of third grade fools in the manga; both terribly written, pieces of trash characters. No wonder he fell down hard after his mask came off. That became one serious metaphorcial crack in his character that became the cause for his ruin. As if any character can be spared once Naruto and Kakashi collectively urinate on their characterization.
