Being a Pirate King doesn't mean ur strong, if Usopp found the One Piece then he'd be Pirate King, but that wouldn't make him strong(er). Even if one became Pirate King he'd have to defend his title..

You could by amassing a gigantic military force.
You don't have to defend the title though. It's not about being strongest or anything like that. The PK of this era will be the one to find One Piece. You can't defend your status as the dude who found One Piece ten years later after finding One Piece.

Oda has also hinted and even made Luffy say he needs to become stronger than 'anyone else'...so that makes twoo already.

Why would they go after One Piece?
Also, because Marineford was just one on one fights that went all the way to the end and were never interrupted or cancelled? So a larger scale war would definitely be the same :|

To think they aren't looking for it would be a bit ridiculous. I mean what better way to keep people from finding it then finding it yourself.
Marineford was 1v1s that were interuppted. In other words, the marines have very strong individual fighters who fight 1v1. Not a million weaklings who are somehow able to overpower white beard.

Nothing indicates that they are though. They have no reason to, especially when no one knows where it is and up until the MF war, no one was sure it existed. Oda said Akainu could get it if he were the protagonist in just a year. If the Marines were looking for it, they'd have it.
Except that's exactly how WB died and we had tons of panels of WB being attacked by groups, and fights were interrupted by others(Marco kicking Aokiji, Jozu slamming Aokiji).

Becoming the PK doesn't depend on strength as all you need to do is find the One Piece. One can say that you need alot of strength to find it but Buggy the warlord says otherwise. Buggy is the perfect example that you can achieve greatness in a sea of monsters while being weak.
Its just that with Luffy's adventures and the people that he is pissing off, he is going to need alot of individual strength or else he'll never achieve his dream and be killed. A very capable crew is an extremely important necessity as well as without that, becoming PK is impossible.

What? That still doesn't change that in a war scenario, getting jumped by a group of people at once is a very viable scenario, as shown when it happened to WB so many times, the injuries added up to his death.
^^^ This. Luffy needs to be strong because he does outrageous things that attract competition and attention. Someone who stays to himself and just trains all the time and doesn't get into very public fights or does outlandish things could subtly and stealthily track One Piece down, not needed to be as strong as Luffy.

in theory ur right but u get this is shonen. if u trick ppl like buggy there is a .001 % chance u can be pk. this manga alludes the strongest will win the ultimate throne. its highly hinted that through doffy when he was chained.

Do we not leave plot out of manga discussions anymore? I'll make a Luffy vs Akainu, BB, Dragon, and Sengoku thread. I expect to see all of you say Luffy wins because of plot and shonen and main character must win.
its a trend dude u get that right even if we leave plot out of it. the trend is likely that u would very likely not make it raftel with the likes of yonko like shanks and kaido there if you're weak.
