As long as we acknowledge each other even if we lead separate lives as we should as individuals it would make a huge difference.
I don't think you understand.
What are we unifying for?
Sure: "A better life" - but what does that mean?
What about life is going to get better, and how?
The problem is that you believe there is an "us." You believe there is something different about the people in authority, right now - that there is a distinction between "them" and "us." If "we" were "in control" - then things would be better, because we would be rid of the demi-gods that have abused their positions.
There is nothing different about them. They are us. We are them. The "elite" are not a race. They are people who have taken advantage of circumstances and employed their talents to get where they are. Some of them have done so honestly, many of them have been deviants.
The idea that there is an "us" to unify against "them" is the failure to realize that we become "them" in the transition, and thus will be completely unprepared to deal with the consequences of a transition of power.
The French Revolution started the same way, and ended when the population was physically unable to haul people off to be killed. The people who started the revolution were eventually hauled off and killed by their own activists for lacking the proper virtues to live within the same society.
Once you start the bloody ball rolling - it's a difficult one to stop.
Even the much more controlled American Revolution had its own issues with revolutionary inertia. The Constitution came out of the abyssal failure of the Continental Congress that had armies marched against it on more than one occasion - and Washington had to plead with his generals and his troops to get them to stand down.
Of course those in 'elite' positions are concerned. Why do you think they continually try to control who can broadcast information over the internet (Net Neutrality was passed specifically to give the government jurisdiction over how bandwidth was allocated on the internet and to give 'authorities' the ability to literally strangle network traffic they want suppressed - it does absolutely nothing to free up the internet - it is precisely the opposite)? Why do you think they are always ranting and raving about gun control?
They already know that 0.1% of the population being upset enough to commit to guerrilla attacks against them is a 400,000 man insurgency that can and will nail them any time they take a peek out the window.
They're already scared. metus es plenus tyrannis. The Sword of Damocles hangs above the throne of power, regardless of who sits upon it.
