When Hagoromo bestowed his power amongst Naruto and sauce, they respectively awoken RSM and Rinnegan.

So why is it the databook label their powers as gifts? Hagoromo didn't give Naruto and Sasuke RSM & Rinnegan, only his chakra. Only then did they awaken their new powers. So why is Rikudou Sage Mode and Rinnegan labeled as gifts from hagoromo? ​

They both recieved Six Paths Chakra. That upgrades Naruto's original Frog Sage mode. So yes its like he awakened the new from through Hagaromo's chakra.

Sasuke went through the same thing with Ashura's chakra from Hashirama, and the Six Paths to grant the tomoe variant.

They both are gifts, Hagoromo knew exactly where their powers were going.
