Well true, he wasn't. But I figured Itachi was way faster than Sasuke and has clones/crows to counter Deidara. Plus, no mines this time around.

Although Crows can distract Deidara, and Deidara would need to use C2 since he canonically stated his C1 bird is bad against fast opponents like Sasuke. If Itachi gets the opportunity he might burn down the bird via Katon.

crows are shitted in by clay spiders. The only times the crowd were useful were the times the opponent was in close proximity of Itachi. With Deidara high in air, crows are killed before they reach Deidara.

Why would he not be able to utilize his mines?

Clone + Hiding like a mole and its still viable, or simply going under himself as Itachi doesn't have any way to attack him underground.

3T genjutsu isn't affecting Deidara, clones would be a nuisance but Deidara has his own clone feints, and even his own exploding ones that would catch Itachi just like they did Sasuke.

Actually, C4 is the only issue since Itachi doesn't have a lightning affinity. But he will likely see the microbombs before they reach him.

Itachi probably wins more times than not, but Deidara definitely stands a chance.

Why can't mines work here? Theres no reason to say the mines would sink?

Although yeah the ocean being here means most if not all of his explosions wouldn't be as large as they'd be exploding within the oceaon while Itachi is outside of it.

The nanobombs get dissipated in the water. They only moved freely when used against Sasuke because they had no solid resistance in the air. Then there's the fact that they have to be inhaled in order for Deidara to detonate and destroy Itachi, and how he inhales something underwater you probably can't answer.

Your post would only make sense if Deidara's C4 gets blown up in Itachi's face before he dives in.

Sasuke couldn't dodge because he didn't want to carelessly move among the landmines. Deidara says this the page before and Sasuke confirms it.

Fish Bomb isn't even an issue for anyone who wants to bother mentioning it. Itachi would easily evade it if Deidara doesn't sneak it past him, which he will never do.

I don't know much about Deidara and the way his C4 would move in water to even address that properly because I know it looks like a cloud, but it also stays im a circular radius and its seemlingy unaffected by factors like wind but I am sure in the event that Itachi dives underwater to attempt at evading C4 he still dies.

When Kabuto found the Turtle Island he told Deidara to make him a big bomb to stop the turtle. Deidara created a giant squid bomb and its power flipped the turtle over so with a yield that powerful and large Itachi still dies underwater. He has no way to escape something of that level.
