You can't just ignore sales, sales is a measure of how well a series is doing vs itself.

You are too fixated on comparing the series up there, I'm telling you to compare the series to itself.

That's when sales matter. If a series' sales are plummeting compared to what they used to be, that tells us a lot, you can't ignore these things.

There are a lot of factors that make the sale-Including the people who grew up watching it and now are adult and still read it because it's a continuous story and still light fun gag manga and what not and it has become a part of them. Like one OP reader described it:

yup which is why I said sales matter for shows such as One Piece with such a big fanbase. If the sales start to decline, it means something is off.

Many of these shows have a cult following. AOT has one now, Naruto had one yet its sales started to decrease during the latter years.

That is for the entire world. The numbers don't lie. One Piece dominates the world sells. Naruto is number 4 by having sold 100 million less copies with 7 less volumes.

And sure One Piece sells less in the western world(due to the crappy 4kids anime adaptation), but all mangas do because virtually everyone reading it for free online. The numbers of the western world account to pennies to the total amount of the world. Unless you want to find those numbers someone online showing how well other manga do with actual numbers. I'm in a nice mood too, so I'll even get you started.

This was last weeks sells according to the NYTimes. Oh look. Number 2 was One Piece with its newest volume issued. Guess that's pretty good considering how "bad" it does in the western world.




Not a bad list. Hope Magi gets its anime back soon so sells will skyrocket again. I think it might be time to pick up 7 deadly sins and Kingdom as well.
