Apply this simple test:

Has the main villain ever been defeated with every one of his minions still around?
Has the main villain ever been defeated in a single chapter at the start of an arc?
Has the main villain ever been defeated by a powerup that has a time limit? (Okay, we don't know how long Natsu's dragon king mode will last. It's still got a time limit.)
Has the main villain ever been defeated while saying some plot related sh*t that we had no idea about before?
Has the main villain ever been defeated after a single training arc, with no prior battles?


By the way, all those answers are "No". So Zeref isn't dead.

I said something similar a while back in a more extensive way. For some reason there are people who find it necessary to complain about anything in FT simply because it's FT. If you would follow their irrational complaints, everyone in FT should lose all their battles, have died and the entire world should have been destroyed. This of course makes no sense whatsoever.

This became especially clear not too long ago when they were complaining about Freed and the others destroying that robot. They were so eager to use that as a pitiful excuse to complain that it just became laughable when the next chapter was released and all their complaints where completely unjustified.

I think that while he won't die, I think the attack Natsu hits Zeref with will weaken Zeref enough that Natsu can fight him with his normal abilities at least for a little while.

I suspect that Zeref out of frustration opens the Book of End in order to empower Natsu so he will finally be strong enough to kill him.

Igneel's magic wasn't powerful enough to defeat END. Zeref is stronger than END, who turn in far powerful than Igneel.
Now if Igneel's magic never worked against END, how the heck it was able to harm Zeref to that extent, who is perhaps one of the strongest FT characters?? Can he be damaged? Yes. Should he be damaged by Igneel magic?? No. Hence waiting for proper explaination, but unless it is explained. It is against FT powerscale of Zeref>END>Igneel.

Obviously, I am talking about post 'acno soul thingy' igneel here. Igneel before that wasn't able to destroy END(in your words.), so in short Igneel after that is certainly weaker than END, right?? The second version of the Igneel is something that entered into Natsu's body and hence attack that Natsu used in this chapter belongs to second version and not first.
Acno and Zeref comparison is completely irrelevant, since acno is on entirely different level.
END in turn was never able to stop Zeref(Zeref said so himself in this chapter, correct me with wordings again, if you want).
So, nope this version of Igneel is weaker than END and Zeref both.
