It's actually stated in the DB that the only way to activate MS is to kill someone close to you. The only person who didn't do this was Itachi, but he still witnessed his best friend commit suicide for him, and give him his eyes.

So in general sense, you have to either do the act yourself, or watch someone close to you die. That's my general understanding. I'll post the DB if anyone wants it, though google works too since it's a popular scan page.

The DB also stated that Tobi was Madara. It just states the facts based on the manga at the date of it's release, a lot of info is outdated.

BZ tampered with the Uchiha tablets, for years Uchiha's associated power with hate, but that curse was broken. Sarada awakened Sharingan from strong emotions of love. So strong emotions is all it takes, Mangekyo probably just needs stronger emotions to awaken, the death of a loved one achieves that, but that doesn't mean it cannot happen any other way. Especially in Sarada's case given how she awakened Sharingan.

Hm my understanding of it was that everyone thought that you had to kill someone (your best friend for example) but that's only because when you killed your best friend you experienced that high level of trauma. Sasuke awakened his MS after hearing the truth about Itachi. It wasn't right after Itachi died. It was a delayed awakening.

Is there any updated information on the Mangekyo Sharingan?

Well -- The Sharingan was never stated to be activated through positive, or negative trauma. You just needed strong emotions. It just happens that most Uchiha's weren't given the option. Sasuke was the most promising step in the next direction ... until the Uchiha massacre.

However, when it comes to Mangekyo Sharingan respectfully. It wasn't stated that you needed immersive trauma, but (using both what the Manga states and example in the Manga) needing to witness someone close to you die.

Right. Which continues to add that the only way shown to activate MS has been through a negative understanding.

What we've seen so far, from memory, is that the Sharingan is created through strong emotions, but evolves passively through more on the negative side. Even needing an Uchiha to steal someone else's eyes (of a family member) to gain EMS.

A cursed Clan like they say lol.

Somehow I still feel like Sarada will be an exception to that rule. She's not fueled with hatred and I think she got most of her traumatic side out of her system after gaiden lol so something negative can still happen but maybe Sarada will react to it in a different way than her father?

Like I said, that's just consistent with the on-going propaganda of associating hate and pain with power when it came to the Uchiha which started from BZ. But Sarada experienced the exact opposite to activate Sharingan. So I wouldn't be surprised if she awakened MS through euphoric or protective emotions.

Er...

I just said, twice maybe, that the Sharingan is activated through induced trauma of none stated positive or negative emotion. The Mangekyo Sharingan not being Sharingan activation, is an exception of the rule. I'm only going by Manga Feats, and Data-Book knowledge here.

The Sharingan itself was never the problem, the Uchiha could activate just like Sarada easily, the problem being they were never given the option. Sasuke was the only one before Sarada who was given the chance to live a normal life ... and we saw how that ended.

When it comes to the MS, it's either; Take a life, or watch a life die.

EDIT; Forgot to add Sasuke's example of how he activated MS, but it wouldn't fit the line. You remember how it went down? Silver said it above. It's not the same frequency, he activated after hearing Itachi's story.

I think maybe she'll be faced with another traumatic moment with death of someone close to her. I don't think she'll go crazy like her father, because we've seen four Uchiha's who have activated MS and did not go crazy, two of them stayed sane too.

Now you're repeating what I already addressed, it seems you didn't understand my point, re-read my previous 2 posts if you're interested in continuing this redundant discussion.

I'm pretty sure I understand what you said, if I repeated an argument it's because you are failing to understand my point. It's more or less redundant because you aren't heading the difference between Sharingan activation, and what evolves the Sharingan to MS. Two different things here, and one of the concepts not being stated to be negative or positive.

But ignorance is bliss.

No your point is clear, and I understand what was stated in the manga and databook, however all of that was conceived under BZ's manipulation, for an Uchiha, the death of a loved one (which triggered the strongest emotion of pain) caused them to go crazy, which is exactly what BZ wanted.

My argument - which is nothing more than speculation that will never be explored hence the redundancy - is now, after the manga concluded and the whole truth was revealed, and the curse of hatred was exposed and broken, it wouldn't surprise me if Sarada of all people does not awaken MS from the death of a loved one, but by some other euphoric/protective emotion. For example, she experiences the birth of a baby brother, she's overflowing with emotions and swears to protect him at all costs then boom, MS, out of love.

it was said if u kill your best friend then your sharingan will change to MS.
kakashi, madara, izuna did that.
Itachi saw death of shisui ,killed his lover
shisui not known
if sarada kills his best friend(chocho) she will also unlock MS.

I guess the real question being, is witnessing that enough to have emotion which situated the Uchiha to develop MS through the past?

Given how Sarada awakened her regular Sharingan, it would make perfect sense.

I actually remember you posting a fan comic that explored this, the scenario was a little different but it followed the same idea.
