It only happens to be "cheating" because somehow chunnin exams changed into some sort of controlled boxing match type fights where you have to wear the same gloves and be of the same weight class and no hidden ace up your sleeve.

In contrast part 1 encouraged "any and all means" type of fight.

So many ninjas done all kinds of retarded shit.

-Sasuke injected himself with drugs while at orochimaru
-Deidara and kakuzu ran off with their village jutsu
-Kabuto uses orochimaru's machinery to become frankenstein.

People be snatching bodies and snatching eyeballs and backstabbing and ambushing left and right all throughout the manga.

Putting "rules" in the exam was stupid.

I personally think ninjas are just threatened by new tools

I agree with OP, Kishi has just literally forgot his own teen age and all the struggling in life to be one giving harsh judgement that how Naruto was potrayed at begining of Boruto the movie.

1. I agree about disqalificaiton as punishment for breaking rules in chunnin exam. However Naruto took it too far taking off Boruto headband. Even Rest of Kages commented and pited Naruto's action showing that he just become old tired of life geezer.

2. No matter how Naruto wanted to be strict he should never forgot what made him who he is as adult

3. For moment I wished teen RSM Naruto or Naruto from the last the movie to hit hard Hokage Naruto and remind him who he have been through all whole his life. Happily it was Momoshiki who kicked him straight in face, that was really enjoyable moment for me.

4. It seems Momoshiki kick in Naruto's face awoken him from being too harsh and acting as heartless, so good job Momoshiki.

As a kid you may have thought it was fun to graffiti on walls or something but as an adult you realise its wrong and stop others from doing it.

Naruto stole the scroll to try and work harder and graduate, Boruto was using the device just to win. And Naruto barely had control over his use of the kyubbi chakra in part 1. I think it was fair to reprimand Boruto to try and teach him that being a ninja isnt about just winning battles you also need to train hard and work towards your goals and have your own nindo. Boruto obviously didn't value the other side of being a ninja, it wasnt like Naruto said you will never become a ninja, leave Konoha. If boruto trains hard and actually applies himself he could be able to do those techniques on his own. What would happen if he won the chunin exams, became a chunin then went on a mission but forgot the device and ending up having himself and his comrades all die because he wasnt actually that skilled? Cheaters never prosper.

I'm betting the creator of this thread is a Sasuke Fanboy.
Loooooooooool try again

Characterisation analysis that I think is interesting = Bashing (?)

Also very few of you are understanding my point. Naruto shouldnt be aspiring to be a great Functional Hokage. He has always been above that and always prioritises unity & understanding over punishment. Never did I say let him off but for Naruto to jump to being outwardly cruel/strict to resolve the situation for the first time EVER *is* strange.

He doesn't deserve Boruto as an ally bc he never showed that
Naruto Uzumaki unrelenting empathy that the likes of Sasuke, Nagato, Tsunade & Obito received.
It's a cool turn for the film but it's a clear departure for the character. That's all my point.

Bold part, is the one of the main points to which OP and I am reffering to. Sadly he did otherwise and after declaring Boruto is disqualified he took off Boruto leaf handband and told him he is no longer anymore ninja of konoha, so it wasn't even as Naruto let him stay genning or sending him back to shinobi acadamy. He was just too harsh and rush or at least shown like that while taking such descision.

That why I enjoyed and cheered so much when Momoshiki appeared in front of Base Naruto and kicked him hard in face. It seems it made Naruto awoken from harsh and rude attitude to being back father and putting family matter above some rules, although he still wanted to keep all people safe so it seems he just remind yourself he is father too ;p

I agree with what Demon Hawk said, but I also wanted to point out something.

In Naruto's case, he wasn't really cheating when he stole the scroll. He was tricked into doing it by Mizuki. He didn't know what TO do with the scroll, so he opened it up and started looking at the hidden techniques. He found one and began training extremely hard.

That's the difference here. Boruto was tricked into using the device, but he didn't train for any of the abilities he put inside of them bar the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Sure he can use Raiton and Suiton, but obviously not at that level.

I understand you're disliking of Naruto removing Boruto's headband in-front of everyone, but you have to put yourself in the Hokage's shoes. He is the son of the Hokage, and therefore is not just a representation of the Village, but a represention of yourself, as your child.

Not only did Boruto not heed Naruto's warning about not cheating, he used it in almost every match (despite Boruto doing it for Naruto and his team mates). So in that sense, Boruto wasn't ready to be a shinobi yet. Even Sasuke noted this a few times before Boruto become a "True" shinobi.

You should also look back to how proud Naruto was of his son, even pretending to not really be interested in the Exams until Shikamaru left the room. He was also hurt that his son's accomplishments didn't even come from himself. It's not a two way streak of pain.
- It doesn't matter, I already countered this with my killer example two wrongs don't make a right. Just because naruto cheated before does not make it right for bolt to do the same

- How was he to punish him then? Allow bolt to advance and let shikadai fail? Even if he punished him behind closed doors that would still be unfair.

- He understands that is why he did what he did

- Not in an exam he didn't. And all those he forgave he never forced anyone else to forgive them, as a leader naruto shouldn't allow his own sentiments to get in the way. Naruto was not raised by the third for this very reason

- Not really, bolt failed because he went against the rules. In naruto's chunin exams such rules did not exist. People get penalized for using calculators in a non-calculator exam but not in a calculator exam. Rules are rules

-It isn't 50% naruto's fault, you don't see himawari acting like that and she's even younger than bolt.
I understand what you are saying, but I think you were expecting Naruto to handle the situation as himself, when he couldn't do that. Naruto had to handle the situation, as a father and a Hokage at the same time. That's something we haven't seen from Naruto before. He had to be strict yes, and he did forgive Boruto, but he had to reprimand him of his title. Boruto had soiled the Village's name by cheating throughout the Exam's, and he had hurt his father.

Imagine you are the President, and your daughter takes place in a Examination. But she decides to cheat without you noticing until the very end. So when she does get caught, not only are you personally inflicted, you also have to show the world how you take this action very seriously.

He couldn't just take Boruto home and talk it out with him, he had to show the World that he was a capable man and Hokage. This is what sets him apart from his young self. He didn't let his personal feelings for his own son get in the way of acting as a man of the Village.
I really don't see what the big deal is. He's a parent he's supposed to have double-standards. "Gee I did bad things when I was a kid, let me give my kid a pass so he learns absolutely nothing and has zero chance of being better than I was" Boruto would be all ****ed up going by that logic

The kid cheated, during the exam, using something that was strictly prohibited. And for good reason. When Naruto took that scroll he still had to train to learn the technique. You tried to compare it to using "sacred ninja tools, puppets etc" in an earlier comment, but they couldn't be any more different. That device doesn't use any of your chakra or require any technique. Dude that made it basically said you don't even have to be a ninja to use it. Hell HE used the shit. You can't compare that to puppets being manipulated by the user's chakra or ninja tools that the user trained to hone their skills with. That's like comparing a damn home cooked meal to tv dinners man. Tf?!

You said he's so understanding that he let guys like Nagato and Obito off the hook? Niga he FOUGHT them first. Would you have rather had him go whoop his son's ass then give him a pat on the back? Tf you mean?!

And will yall stop it with the Kurama crap. "No effort, he didn't train, blehhhh". Let it go man. What's the point of being a jinchuuriki if you can't even use the damn power? It's like finally getting eternal light for your sharingan only for a niga to tell you EMS techniques are off limits. And he ain't even ask for the shit. His life is constantly in danger of being taken over by an evil beast, and yall be tripping over him getting some chakra in return.
It's Boruto's fault. Real ninja don't get caught.
Firstly, let me put you at ease by saying that what Naruto did was surely stern. But I wouldn't object to it since it was the requirement of the situation. Any more leniency would have started to bend towards the "unfairness" side.

@bold Again, you're failing to understand the "why?" factor here. Naruto disqualified Boruto by law, not by his own anger. So there is no point about "forgiveness" here. How should he "forgive" Boruto when he is already perfectly harmonized with him? Doesn't make sense. Plus, their is no excuse since Naruto already banned it in front of Boruto.

And if Naruto should've "forgiven" Boruto, what do you think would have happened? Would all the contestants be happy about Boruto cheating and forgiven by his Hokage dad while having full knowledge that if they'd done it, they'd be disqualified? Would the Gokage be satisfied by this decision? WOULD THAT BE FAIR WITH OTHERS?

@underlined This all becomes irrelevant when put up against the law. The law has no concern with that. Naruto was obliged to follow the law. And ANY contestant that cheats is disqualified. Law doesn't give a f*** about the backstory of thieves i.e. what drove them to stealing. No. It just punishes them.

@red As I already said, Naruto isn't contradicting himself with his deeds. He "forgave" Obito and Nagato and all the deeds they committed out of his own desire. He was angered by them but forgave them, that's on personal level. But he "disqualified" Boruto by the law. And he wasn't angered by him so give him forgiveness of what? And then this goes out of personal level on a social level. Two different scenarios and conditions, bruh.

What Naruto displayed was the epitome of justness and fairness. This is a totally different thing from forgiving Obito and Nagato. This is social, not personal. This is following law, not personal desire. This is for the betterment, not enmity. This is out of bounds, not anger.
Yo you are really trippin off this movie dude. That one little scene of Boruto getting punished was tragic to you? He saved his life like right after that. You acting like he condemned the kid or something

Bruh DA ****?! They were in the HOKAGE'S OFFICE when he asked Boruto to call him Hokage. That's like the one place he should be called Hokage if nowhere else. Boruto called him "dad" when Naruto went to see him at the house and Naruto didn't make him call him Hokage then. What are you really complaining about here?

Only Sasuke and plot? Boruto wasn't even feeling anything Sasuke was saying about Naruto at first. Sasuke told him that Naruto brought himself up on his own and all Boruto cared about was what his dad's weaknesses were. It wasn't until Boruto saw Naruto bring out the Kurama cloak that he started to think differently about his dad. Then when Naruto risked himself and saved the entire village, that's when Boruto attitude really started to change and he wanted to know more about what his dad had to endure to get to where he was (apart of the "perseverance" theme of the movie) Sasuke planted the seeds and Naruto watered them with his actions. It was because of both of them. What movie did you watch?

Man those two things were the main themes of the movie, and the main things Boruto was lacking and needed to learn. I don't see how you could miss that dude.

Yo if anyone hasn't seen the movie (only the CAM version is out to my knowledge) please go watch it. Trust you will have the wrong idea from this thread. It's really not as serious as this thread made it out to be. Don't get me wrong, we all interpret things differently, but there is a such thing as being a little too sensitive
What these guys said.

He was no longer a worthy ninja because he was cheating, if he tried to work hard again and actually focus on what it means to be a ninja then he could get the forehead protector again and become a ninja. At the end of the movie hes going on a mission again so he wasn't barred from being a ninja. and he no longer looks at becoming hokage to just be on top and the best ninja in the village, instead he just wants to support his team and promises to protect Sarada. Even the character admits that he was wrong.

It's easy to understand why Naruto reprimanded Boruto. The issue is his laziness which was facilitated by the use of the device; rather than train, when hitting a dead wall, he ran to the devices.

He has a responsibility to ensure that Boruto, and the other genin, grow into competent adults which wouldn't happen if they relied too heavily on a device that gave them all the skills they needed.

---
It's his job to run the village, and produce better shinobi, not make more Boruto's.
Boruto wasn't lazy he trained it just wasn't good enough to acquire the skills that he wanted we seen him train for his rasengan it was also stated konohamaru trained him to use wind, water, lightning. Naruto should be the last person complaining because he was given 1tails-8 tails chakra along with Hagoromo's yang seal the most hax power in the naruto universe.

Bold - After Boruto finished showing Sasuke his Rasengan, and when Sarada appeared. She told Sasuke that it was a miracle Boruto 'kept' it up for so long. Kept what up? Look back to and see what Sarada was doing; Watching Boruto train for the Rasengan.

Sarada made a point that it was a miracle Boruto kept training for so long, because he isn't one to take things seriously. Before the training session, Boruto told his father (whom was telling him that team work, training, and perseverance is what made a shinobi), Boruto retorted that he didn't need to train for his shadow clone jutsu. He continued on the conversation by creating conflict through each and every one of Naruto's ninja morals.

What's funny is that Boruto constantly argued with his teachers (Konohamaru & Sasuke) when it came to actually putting more work than he wanted to in. If I had to quote him on every complaint that had to due with his laziness, it would probably take me a good 10 minutes.

Don't believe he had a real teacher until Sasuke came into the picture. He might have trained under his Mother for a bit, which is why he could use the Gentle Fist. But he only started using Konohamaru when Sasuke asked him to make the Rasengan. Everything else you said I'll leave alone since the main parts were a bit wrong.

I fail to see how a summoning or a ninja animal/elaborate tool is 'your own strength' or 'determines the power of genin'

Shuriken, puppets, kunai, swords- obviously. A seperate entity (be it Gamabunta, Kurama chakra, or any summoning actually) is IMO way worse & contradictory than the device.
Having the skill and chakra to pull off a summon as a genin is a pretty impressive display of strenght for a genin. The device takes no skill to use

You know how many people have complained about training while training, Boruto seems like the type to train for a technique to master it at a low level that's for sure but you can't throw the whole context of boruto training out the window. Sarada wasn't around every single moment of training boruto have had, all because he hasn't trained to master his shadow clone doesn't mean he doesn't train for other skills or techinques. Naruto was given the yang seal by hagoromo he was able to keep might guy alive & creator a whole new eye for kakashi not even specialist in the medical ninja units can do so and the worst part was that he couldn't even full comprehend how he did either lmao.

Let's look at the actual conversation:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

Boruto retorts with:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

And it ends with this:

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images

This has nothing to do what Konohamaru was teaching him via abilities, it had to do with what Konohamaru was teaching him about the basics of being a shinobi. Although, what really makes the argument weird is that Boruto told Naruto he didn't have to train to make the Shadow Clone Jutsu. So that wouldn't really make sense if Konohamaru was teaching him anything in that regard too, right?

Well you aren't wrong. He probably is someone who trains just to get by, but doesn't go all the way. But that is what makes him lazy too. Basically he starts an essay which requires three paragraphs, and only does a sentence. He then says that is enough, and walks away.

That's the best way to put it. But even in the scenario above when Naruto tells him that training is important, he retorts by saying "he didn't even need to train" to do so and so. Plus with the example of Sarada telling Sasuke that Boruto isn't one to train for this long, and not to mention the conversation between Naruto and Sasuke were Sasuke compares him to Naruto, which Naruto denies, and then Naruto compares him to the Old Sasuke, which he then takes it back because "His clothes aren't tattered like yours"

If you look back, Naruto is looking at his old beat up jacket. Which got that way from all the hard work and training that went into it. While in the Movie, Boruto's clothes are referred to as clean, and kept. Which is that way because he doesn't dirty them (train). What's funny is that when Boruto finishes training with Konohamaru, and he runs into Katasuke who lures him into the lab, he then is walking in the street of Konohagakure after receiving the device, and then looks into the mirror and notices that his clothes are dirty. He then wipes off the dirt and walks away.

Not going to talk about post-development Boruto who allowed his clothes to stay ripped, it would be too long of an analysis per se.

Bruh the entire point of the first convo between Sasuke and Naruto was to emphasize that Boruto takes the easy route. "His clothes always look new" compared to how worn out Naruto's old clothes were. What do you think that meant? Boruto using a cheat to play his video games at the beginning and then playing the right way at the end of the movie. It's like the most important aspect of the movie went over your head. Boruto was lazy and took the easy way, needing to learn training and perseverance.
